Evil, Meatballs in a Cup and Deleted Members
DAMN I'M EVIL!
The Dante's Inferno Test has banished you to the Sixth Level of Hell - The City of Dis!
Here is how you matched up against all the levels:
Take the Dante's Inferno Hell Test
P.S. I deleted members who never use this anymore, but I left Cory and Jen in case they change their minds
ALSO- It's food day at the Argus. And I should have waited a little bit. Oh well, by the time all the food's out it'll be time to go at it again!! WOO! Steve is eating meatballs out of a cup. haha. What a way to go out! 4 kinds of chips, meatballs, deviled eggs, tricuits, summer sausage, carrots, honeydew, cantaloupe. I heard talk of Brian bringing lasagna.... I have been a starving intern for too long, haha. My last trip to the rec will not be in vain.

Guys only like girls who have great skills!
Emily- I added your Webshots to the links on the side of the page if you actually look at the blog. I don't know if U do or if you read it after u sign in, but u can also see posted pictures on the blog if u just do directly to the address. I don't know if you knew.
Since no one but my homeys (hehe) reads this blog I am going to update you all on a truly strange situation- one of which Thomas has heard and Diane heard little bits and pieces of last night.
It seems like I am only attracted to guys who love everyone but me. Themselves. Alcohol. Their friends. Their family. Their ex-girlfriends... but not me.
Which brings us to the topic of today's post- ex-girlfriends. I of all people understand it can take one helluva long time to get over an ex. I mean, u all know that about me. I don't think I was ever truly over it until I could finally truthfully say to myself without a doubt that I didn't like that person anymore. And it took nearly 3 years. So when it's only been several months I know it's hard. And I try to be there for this guy.... But how well can you really console someone about a breakup when you actually wish they could start thinking about someone new- you?
For as long as I've known this person, he and I have flirted hard core. But he was always dating a friend of mine, and so nothing serious ever came about it, and I ignored my crush. It was widely known that she cheated on him, with one of his close friends, but he took her back and still thought it was some fairy tale romance. Then, he graduates. She's got 2 more years to go. Away on an internship- she cheats again, and he ends it for good. I start talking to him online, more and more- after I wrote him one random e-mail while I was bored at work in an effort to catch up. He decides to tell me- and NO ONE ELSE- that they broke up. Later, after all the "it will be okay, I know it sucks now"s, commence the flirting. And it gets more intense each time we have these conversations- until it finally comes out. He says it not me.
My friend is going to visit him this weekend, and he wishes I was coming before her. Why I ask? Because he's in a vulnerable situation and he's afraid of what he might do- Situation: this girl has made it known to him before that she's liked him, and although he doesn't like her like that- it's amazing what ppl will do in his current situation. This bothers him because- get this- while he can't get over his ex and would make out with someone to feel better about it- he wouldn't want to ruin any chances he has with me.
So I tell him what he already knows- if he's looking for a rebound, he had better look elsewhere. We are so much alike, we have so much fun talking and hanging out and we could really be good together. And he knows that. And he agrees- if he were with me, it wouldn't be a rebound situation because he doesn't want to screw up with me- not friends-wise, and not girlfriend-wise. Right now he's really confused. He knows he thinks highly of me, and is attracted to me, and he has said he wants to take a chance, but first he wants to make sure it's what he really wants. Which is great because I don't need him thinking he likes me and then deciding later that it was only because his ex weighed so heavily on his mind and made him lovesick. And I don't want someone whose always going to put me in second place- I deserve better than that. So I've run out of things to say at this point in the convo. He switches aol screen names so he can write his ex an e-mail. He doesn't ever want to talk to her again he says. Her random calls every so often only keep him stringing along, and we both know that. Without trying to sound like a bitch- I tell him he's making the right choice. From my perspective- I tried the keeping in touch thing, and that's what made it take 3 years. But it also hurts, because his ex is my friend too- but then I remind myself she cheated on this wonderful person who would have done anything for her, TWICE, and it's hard not to take sides anymore.
So I try to console him, but inside my head, everything I think to type sounds like "get over it and be my boyfriend." So I don't say much. He goes to bed, emotionally distraught. When I asked if he was going to be ok, without much hesitation- he said "no." (I've been in that place, and I know he's not in his right mind, but still...)
It's a bad sign, and I know inevitably there aren't chances for him and me at this point. I could never date someone who otherwise would be perfect for me, but can't seem to let go of someone who treated him like shit. Do we like that? What's wrong with us??!? Ugh. Enough. Kbye
Long post, sorry.

A lot of catching up..
Dang, I really fell out of the blog in the past month. I apologize for that, but hopefully I can get myself back on track. I need to update everyone on my situation, as well as catch up on a lilreading, hehe. I have been doing nothing but dating, partying and work. That is pretty much it, and between those three things I have had NO time whatsoever. But I've managed to write now. I'm still long distance dating Marc in B-town soon to be NYC. I will see him again on September 1st or 2nd, when I go to North Carolina with my family. I am, also, (maybe not now though) dating a guy named Curtis. Feel free to stop at my webshots and check him out, I recently updated it. I am also somewhat dating Adam again, I don't see that going anywher though. I don't know that I'm dating Curtis anymore because he became very jealous last night when I told him that Adam is coming down on Saturday (which he was cool with two days ago). Anyway, that is really messed up right now because I don't want a serious relationship, or a relationship at all for that matter, but he does. So, we'll see where that goes, and if it doesn't work out then oh well.
My house is a complete disaster because I've had a couple of major parties and have failed to clean up after any of them, and I had 5 sorority sisters stay the weekend with me. You can only imagine the mess. For those who saw the damage after 4th of July, this is 5xs worse.
Also, I've decided in the last couple of days that I am going to cut waaaayyy far back on my drinking. Its kinda been getting out of control this month, like spending over 100 a weekend on nothing but booze, and the occasional waking up and not remembering going to bed, or what you did a couple of hours b4 u went to bed. It was fun and all but I'm way too poor and wakin up to not remembering scares me, even though I'm around friends.
Well I need to clean and get at least some stuff done tonight. Bbbyyyyeeeee

2 days after this one
The last couple days are never as monotonous as the rest of the time it seems.
That's because they are filled with some possible, and some probable "lasts."
Today, for example. I finished my last assigned story. I have a feeling he won't give me anything else unless he knows it can be finished in a day. Otherwise, what would be the point? I guess what I had found could be passed on to another reporter, probably Darla, but she has her own stuff to be working on.
Tomorrow will be the last day I wish it was the last day. Ha. Also, it will be the last day I enjoy free food in the newsroom, and the last time I have to eat a skimpy dinner cuz I have nothing in the fridge. My visit to the rec will be my last. And my night's sleep will be the last night I spend alone in the Quad Cities.
Friday will be full of lasts. My last day in the newsroom. My last 8 hrs spent at the Argus. My last lunch with Darla. My last view of the District, Davenport or the Centennial Bridge.... If I know my parents, the last time I set foot in a QC casino. The last time I sleep in my Augie dorm room. The last shower I take in a community bathroom, the last time I rely on a tiny fridge to supply food for me to live. It will also be my last night on the town(s) with the 'rents. Maybe I will come back here someday, to visit if nothing else. The area is a quaint, comfy one, with a definitely homely presence- yet not small enough to be hickier than my own hometown.
This summer was my last as a student. My last trip to 4 different county fairs in 9 weeks. My last chance to live away from home, knowing I'm coming back after two months. My last to live it up until I reach adulthood, that word that scares many of my friends.
And Saturday morning, I will look in the rearview mirror and watch Rock Island and then Moline slowly disappear, for the last time.
It will be sad, now that the wait seems inevitably over. It's a shame that I focus so hard on wanting to get out I never get to actually experience a place until it's almost gone. Then it's too late.
I find myself smiling because I hear Steve say something stupid or because Brian is telling me to get out of his way (jokingly) and to print out clips on my own time. Standing by Kurt and the printer, I remember the time he told me to tell my parents "hi" even though he had never met him, and I realize I only hung out with these people once.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it's about over. I know if I had another chance I'd take the easy way out and count down the days till I reach home sweet Godfrey, Ill. Just thinking...... daydreaming, what else is new?

Thank you Mrs. Brave
Ok, so, I just went to my massage interview. It was a group interview so they just went over a few things and the people that hadn't filled out apps did. I was one of them. There were a two questions that I turned more into essay questions and I feel I really nailed them. All thanks to Mrs. Brave and her teaching Journalism class how to bs the AP test. She rules! So in a couple of days hopefully they will invite me back for a 2nd inteview and I'll get to leave Aero! xoxo
Heat Advisory
Hey kids! It's your local journalist here, reporting to you what you should maybe know since it's usually hotter down there than it is here, and we've been issued warnings to stay safe this weekend, as the heat index is expected to be around 110 degrees. These are the fact boxes that go with my story: Learn something!
Tips for staying safe in the heat:
-RELAX. Avoid strenuous activity. If it is a must, do it between 4-7 a.m.
-FIND A COOL PLACE. Stay indoors in the air conditioning or on the lowest floor of your house, out of the sunlight. Operate fans. You may also want to visit a neighbor or head to a public place like the library or the mall.
-STAY HYDRATED. Drink water. Take in more fluids than you are losing. Avoid alcohol and caffeine.
-PROTECT YOUR BODY. Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing to deflect the sun's heat. Wear sunglasses and waterproof sunscreen with an spf of 30 or more. Reapply as needed. Wear shoes outside to avoid painful burns on feet.
-ADJUST EATING HABITS. Eat smaller meals more often throughout the day.
-MONITOR CHILDREN, THE SICK AND THE ELDERLY. These groups are the most vulnerable. Be sure to check on elderly neighbors, especially those without air conditioning. Regularly monitor those with high blood pressure or heart disease. Make sure kids take play breaks to cool down and drink water or sports drinks (to replenish electrolytes). Pedialyte is also effective in infants and small children.
-COOL DOWN SLOWLY. If you do become overheated, use cold compresses around your neck and wrists to cool off. A cold shower could send your body into shock.
-BRING PETS INDOORS. If they must stay outside, may sure they have a supply of cool water at all times.
-NEVER LEAVE A PET OR A CHILD UNATTENDED IN A VEHICLE
Danger signs:
-Dry mouth
-No tears
-Sunken eyes
-Reduction in urination, dark-colored urine
-Skin that stays compressed when pinched
-Light-headedness, dizziness
-Thirst
(More advanced signs)
-Rapid or weak pulse (more than 100 at rest)
-Cold hands and feet
-Rapid breathing
-Blue lips
-Confusion
-Lethargy

Obsession, By Rachelowe
Dude you have an obsession. No, I don't want to stand outside the game and wait for HOT PROFESSIONAL CARDINALS players to come outside so I can see them UP CLOSE and get AN AUTOGRAPH. If you couldn't sense the sarcasm, I'd be glad to.
I guess I need to bring something that can sign then eh? hmmmm...... They can't touch my hat. I love wearing it too much. Maybe my old hat!! hmmm

Remember when we were "froot loop" and "tutti frutti" and the like?
Yeah well, I like what u have there already. Maybe that kind of poem doesn't need closure, because it seems like you don't have closure to speak of.
You could be becoming your mother, as so many people speak about, which technically is maturing, as your mom is a grown lady. Avoiding arguments can't last forever though. Small arguments yes, but if something you need to discuss yet you know you will disagree on comes up- it's probably worth discussing, for the health of the relationship.
If fighting with Mike isn't what makes you want to buy a plane ticket home, I'm guessing a part of you misses it, because you didn't address that specifically. You know like I said earlier- I wanted to get away for awhile, and the time is coming where I am starting to want to come back. Not until afer I graduate of course, but you get the point. Were you wanting to get away forever and start a new life in Texas?
I hope wherever you end up you feel happy about it. I think maybe the more you mature you might find that you get bored with places less. People gotta slow down and end up somewhere someday. Maybe you're not ready for that yet, but you could be feeling it- I donno I only speculate and can be more than wrong on occasion.
There are very few boys out there that want not much more than what you just said, I too have found out. A special certain few tend to be like that at first though, or I hold out hope that I find one. I know you said Mike was really special and that's why you decided not to leave Texas- are you still feeling that way? See anything for the future?

I'm just an emotional fruit basket today!
I try writing and I get a couple of things out but then I don't like anything else. Usually I can only write dark things. Earlier I wrote this but I can't finish it. Its hard to ever finish anything I write...
Sucking the passon from my lips
Blank stares and cold hands help you forget everything I am
Cut into the hole where your black heart lies
Torture me with neglect and useless necessary things
Quilting the same pattern from our past into our future
Tomorrow will be the same charade
Things with Mike are good but there are some things that bother me. I hate the way guys get sucked into the tv or computer(useless necessary things). I think I watch too many movies and expect the fate/destiny/romance that hollywood propaganda portrays. Guys and girls don't think alike. Guys are more materialistic with cars and other expensive toys to out do each other and girls want some kind of head over heels sweep me off my feet romance. I mean I would rather sit and play the "question game" then watch tv.
I've never been the one to avoid arguements but I do now. I can't stand to fight or argue or anything b/c I know that when we get in our first real big fight my ass is just going to pack up and leave. There have been so many times already when I was about to buy a plane ticket home. Not from fighting with Mike though. I don't know if I'm growing up/maturing or just avoiding conflict. I mean my mom is a laid back lady and nothing bothers her...at least she doesn't show it. So am I just growing into that and nothing is wrong with me or am I avoiding conflict?
I think thats it for now...I have a pounding stress headache after all that. xoxo

Response to Diane
Wow that wasn't there when I started my last post. But I'm glad it is now, because it gives me something more to think about and write.
I wish I was a kid again too. Especially after reading that. It hits me everytime I think about what happens after graduation. I freak out and tell myself and everyone around me that there is no way I'm moving away from home right after. Eventually, yeah probably, but not right after. I don't have the money----- or the security I found I was missing when I moved here to Rock Island.
It's me- after slowly getting away after two years that can still admit that no matter what anybody has to say about a medium- semi-small town- I still want to end up in one. If not Alton, then someplace like it. I wanted to get away- experience new things- and I'm happier than ever that I did, or else a lot of opportunities would have passed me by and I'd still be unhappy as ever wishing I was in a different place. But I didn't mean FOREVER... not yet anyways.
When I was home last weekend, I saw Chelsea. It was nice to see her and all... she sat down with me and Rachelowe and started talking to us. Not surprisingly the first things she had to say were rumors about people I used to know. I turned away a few times, trying to seem quasi-interested but not being able to help my thoughts about how juvenile this situation was in the first place. Needless to say I used to think Chelsea was super cool, when I was little. And I still think back and remember the fun we used to have, but then I also think about where I am today, and where she is. There are pluses and minuses of course.
She still hangs out with all her friends from high school. Or a good amount of them. I still talk to many of mine, but I've also gained friends at SIUE and at EIU, and I like to think my range of friends keeps me well balanced. I got opportunities living at college that she never will. I experienced dorm life, bitchy roommates, a sorority (which I actually always thought woulda been more her route than mine).... and lots more. So I'm happy about where I've come.
There always comes a point in my life where I wish I could go back to being 5. I was fit, happy all the time (ask my dad even), tomboyish, adventurous, athletic and outdoorsy. I was best friends with my brother, and life was great.
In high school I thought life was great too, and when graduation neared, I again, wished I was 5.
Now, I wish I was 5. It's a repeat process for me.
Does your boyfriend now not act like that around you? I haven't been dating a whole lot lately but I still feel like a 5 year old when a guy I like shows some reciprocation. I think that's why I latched onto Stephen. He was a friend, a safely-taken friend I could act like I was five around and have fun with without any confusion about getting serious or notions about what it meant. But then again there was Matt, and I treated him the same way. And I don't think it was quite the friendly game it was with Stephen. But it still felt good, because he's a lot like me. And it still feels good. I have a crush haha, again. (It was what I was talking about earlier.)
But anyway Diane. I loved reading your post- whenever you and me seem like opposite entities I get hit with something like this and it reminds me of some of the reasons we get along. The rain thing- and Dave Matthews... I admire the way you compared the streaky windows to a Monet painting. I wish you were home to go to the art museum with me this summer. I never had a favorite obsession like you do with your "Starry Night" but I do feel something of an overwhelming happiness and peace around art because for some reason I am obsessed with texture and color, which is why although his paintings are essentially paint splatters, I see a lot in Jackson Pollock's stuff.
Dude I have a suggestion if you ever get bored. I don't know if you've tried it but I think you should write a story about what you just posted on. If you hate the idea of writing then I understand, but I think it could be really interesting and it makes you feel better about how u feel.
This post wanders. I do that a lot, sorry...

Read Me?
I seriously hope you guys read these, because I realize I write the most- an awful damn lot. They will probably become more scarce, but still somewhat steady- when I get back into the groove of my life... in 9 days.
I guess sometimes I need to write them just so that I am doing something. Thomas is on vacation, so our daily back and forth of emails that has become so routine this summer is at a temporary halt. And at a great time too! I actually have something somewhat interesting to talk about. I don't want to otherwise plaster this business up on the blog.
So- a record 5 stories at once and I'm getting sources to call me back one by one, slowly but surely. As long as they're done by next friday ;)
This weekend I actually have plans in the QC. Friday, Darla (another intern) and I are going to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and then Saturday we are going to a Swing baseball game (Cards' minor league). I'm sick of waiting for Aaron (DEN, also interning here) to do something, especially now since he's over in Moline doing sports- we have different schedules. So we'll have to see how things work out. Either way- I am going to the movie and the game. I'd go by myself if I had to, but Darla doesn't have anyone to hang out with because her husband is going out of town. She's only a year older than me. I still think it sounds wierd to say married.
So Emily- I know you've been dating but I've never heard any details and would like to if you want to share.
Diane- How's your man treating you, and how's the life of a massage therapist? Are u good to go in every state since you passed that test?
Rachelowe- GET EXCITED FOR Cardinal's baseball!
I'm Laura Griffith, signing off.
And go fuck yourself San Diego.

Passionless
Hey guys. Sorry I have to rant a little.
Lately things around me are passionless. I hate it. I hate not experiencing fun/exciting/breath taking things. I get bored so easy. Its weird. I keep thinking back to the things that I truly treasure...
*having someone look at me like I'm the only one in the world
*sitting in my car and watching the rain fall on the window b/c it gets smeary and reminds me of a van gogh painting
*the best date ever was with Justin Mathenia. We went to a movie/dinner and that was ordianary but after that he took me under the bridge (one of his favorite spots) and we threw rocks in the river. The stars were out and I said how I wanted to be under a sky full of stars and he said "if you want the stars I'll give you the stars." Then he played Ryan Adams and took me by the hand and slow danced in the middle of the road. It was like something from a movie.
*having tickle fights/playing "i got you last"
*laying on someone listening to their heart beat.
Its like the older we get the less we are child like at heart! I hate it. I want to play in the rain or scrap my knee and and think its the worst thing in the world when really its not. I don't want any responsibilites except for picking up my toys and telling my mom I'm going over to play at a friends house. I want to be oblivious to everything bad that is going on and think that everyone gets along.
Ok well I think I've been mushy too much to too many people. Sorry I was listening to DMB Under the Table and Dreaming and that cd just does something to me. I hate being such a girl sometimes. xoxo

Gay Park Results
Ok so I went trolling for blowjobs with Brian yesterday in a Credit Island Park in Davenport. It was freaky. First we went on a walk-thru with the police chief and saw a stump with a pillow slouched over it. The stump was surrounded by tons of condom wrappers, liquor bottles and Ky-jelly individual packets.
After the chief left, we drove around for about an hour and a half trying to get some of them to follow us. We succeeded in luring in 2 out of about 6. A tan truck, and a red truck. Apparently there is a signal of sorts to let them know you want to get with them. Brian says its two taps on the brake, I noticed a wierd pattern of all of them having their lights on in broad daylight. They were also all middle-aged men in their cars alone, behind tinted windows. Coincidence? Hmmm probably not.
So there are tons of turnarounds where we stopped a few times to see if anyone would follow us. When the tan truck guy did first, it frightened me a little. I mean- if these guys are picking up strange gay men in the park (as the case happens to be- but even if it were strange persons in general)- they might have a gun or knife for protection I'd think. Dude shutoff his truck, and me and Brian soon thereafter drove away. Tan truck dude gave up on us, but still everytime he drove by, at least 5 times more, he stared hardcore like he, and I quote Brian on this one "wanted to use Brian's skull as a humping post."
Red truck guy wasn't so easy to get rid of. He followed us at least 7 times. Finally, we stopped to see if he'd do it again, and it looked like he was gone. Suddenly he was behind us- a little far back but parked behind us nevertheless. Freaky! So we decided to pull up next to him and talk.
Dude had this elaborate story about birdwatching as his alibi. First- nobody birdwatches from the road and only the road- while parking behind other people. Second- he didn't need his lights on- which he turned on and off repeatedly. Third- Dude shows us his camera like he has to persuade us to believe him. It wasn't anywhere near big enough unless he likes his pics to look like specs. Also- when Brian told him we were reporters investigating strange activity in the back loop- dude didn't bother to ask what activity that was. He probably already knew! Why would he ask?
We got out. And the story will be in the Leader. I'm going to copy and paste it into my xanga because ppl without subscriptions won't be able to read it.

Gay Park
I get to help out tomorrow on my first investigative reporting assignment. Today, Brian (crime reporter) was crusing along in this park known as the place where dead bodies wash up, people get in fights, and apparently middle aged gay men hang out to dearch for free blowjobs. Today he had one of the men follow him to the gas station, which was kind of alarming. Another man just looked at him and licked his lips. He is pretty good looking, but that's kind of freaky when you look at the particulars of the situation. He said he's been to plenty of gay bars (which is hilarious bc most men are homophobes) but he's been with his gf- and when men hit on him she grabs him and starts making out with him. Ha. But speaking of the park- No one has been arrested or in trouble down there, but he is going to check it out some more. Tomorrow, I, as an intern, get to pose as his ladyfriend/bodyguard and we are going to figure out if they try and hit on him when he's with a girl. He's like bait in this experiment and I'm the variable. I can't wait to see what creepy bitches are down there. YAY! Something other than myspace to keep me busy during the day!
Also, I feel kind of bad because I'm broke as a joke and so he bought me lunch at this new place downtown so we could discuss the story. He's a cool guy.

Eventful Weekend
Finally! I haven't had one all summer, not really anyways. Here's how it went:
Friday
Came home around 9:30, talked to parents, looked at why their Internet might be so slow (I don't know), chatted for awhile and took a shower. I couldn't figure out the AC in the van so I sweated my ass off the entire 4 hours home. Other than that it was a pleasant ride. I called Eric, but my phone rang once and I guess he hung up, so I watched Haunted Places on the travel channel with daddy till I fell asleep.
Saturday
Woke up around 10 and got ready to go to spaghetti at Grandma's with mom. There were tons of people there. When it was over around noon, mom and I changed and went swimming at Becky's. Got a little bit of sun, and the water was perfect! Had to go home after awhile and get ready for church. When we got to church it was the most boring preist ever and he spoke for as long as he possibly could- so we cut out after communion. After that my mom went to Becky's and my dad and I went to the Jersey County Fair. I checked out the 4-H stuff, we got a corn dog, and we watched a mechanical bull that looked pretty interesting. We headed to the grandstand and saw antique tractors, mini-rods and the smoke blowers- I don't know what they're called that's what my dad calls them. We had to leave once the hotrods got going because even with earplugs that noise is unbearable. Some little kid down the way left his ear plugs off! I was amazed! Around 9:30 we went to Aungt Becky's and ate the rest of out ribbons fries- yay greasy fair food- and visited until 10. I called Emily and Megan said the bachelorette party was about to leave. [NOTE: Emily had to throw her brother Chris' fiancee a last minute bachelorette thing. We played it by ear.] We went to Tony's and after I brought up the idea of a drag show down at Bubby and Sissy's, Emily remembered Boxers and Briefs in Centerville. So around midnight or later we packed up all our ppl: Me, Em, Megan, Sarah (bachelorette) and Rachelowe- and headed to the strip club. There, some interesting things happened. Sarah said it wasn't really her thing but she was glad she could say she came, but then you could tell as the night progressed she was getting really into it. This one stripper gave her a free stage lapdance, then later Emily paid for a firefighter lapdance from probably the sexiest stripper ever. We gave her some more money to put up in his orange thong. All night Rachelowe kep saying this one guy looked familiar... then when he came over to the table she asked him if he went to SIUE and his face turned red. Then I guess to relieve his anxiety that apparently he hadn't been there long and already somone from school recognized him... he gave us free lapdances and tried to make funny conversation with us. It made me more at ease and I finally let a stipper touch me. I didn't say he could lick my ear, but it happened anyway and it wasn't so bad ;). It was hilarious though, he was grindin' on Emily and he was like, "so, what's your major?" and we all busted up laughing as he moved his way aroud the table. Dude had some nice muscles, tho I usually don't go for that. It was kinda ironic tho. Then he made mention of English 102 papers and I speculated that he might be somewhere around James' age, which was somewhat alarming. But then I guess not, cuz it's possible he was older and also 19 isn't THAT much younger.... We made it home around 4:15. (or I did after I dropped Rachelowe off)
Sunday
I slept till 1 p.m. then Ashley came back to get her car, which had been parked at my house all weekend while she visited her chiropractor guy in STL. I visited with her before she left, and then my mom dyed my hair. We put half up in a pony tail on the top of my head so the top layer of my hair is my original color but the bottom layer is brown-black. I like it. I need to get it layered more soon so you can see it. I also need a trim. After that I lounged around all day- had chicken and veggie kabobs for my homecooked meal of the weekend. Watched part of Harold and Kumar go to White Castle- which I thought was not much raunchier than Dude Where's My Car, and def. not as raunchy as any of the Scary Movies. Frankly, I kinda liked it. Then I drove back, and got here around 10:15. Coulda used better sleep though. Better luck tonight.
All in all this weekend kicked ass. Yay! 2 more weeks!
P.S. I signed Matt Dorner's wall on facebook and he messaged me that I should get ahold of him when I come into town because we should hang out. Ha! I gotta tell you that would be quite interesting. I'm looking into it... Remember when I had a fatty crush on him!? I know you do....

Pomeroy
It looks like Pomeroy is playing in the District tonight. I wish I could see them but it would be alone and I'm going home tonight.
Just thought of you Diane, when I saw their name on the pamphlet.
Everyone says this block party is the one that sucks anyways. Pssh.... Maybe another time!

Baseball game
Rachelowe-
I think it's safe to say I'm going to the game with you. YAY! It's getting close and I haven't heard from April, even tho I've emailed her twice- so she'll have to come down for Fright Fest.
I hope you're feeling better so we can have that drink- don't worry, I don't wanna get drunk. But the place is your choice- (preferably in Alton) wherever u want to go. Just decide and let me know when I call you up on my way home from el tractor pull tomorrow night. Hell, if you want, you can go to the tractor pull. If you like that sort of thing (I can't stand the noise but it's still kinda fun).
Feel better for god's sake! I'ma coming home!! It's 3:15 and the excitement is building. I am just not motivated to do a damn thing.

I love Post...
Do you really just love post? Or are you pointing at things and saying you love them?
I love post.
Right now, I am between stories. Today is a slow day and I don't expect to pick anything up until next week, but I might look into which casino around here is the most popular with younger people. And whatnot. I donno. With two weeks to go, it feels really wierd to start something if I may not get a chance to finish it. What are ya gonna do?
Ashley just called. She is going to be in the St. Louis area, so I might see her this weekend, who knows? Also, Eric and Caleb are partying at Caleb's house, and I might have to visit them, then I wanna have a drink with Rachelowe for her birthday with anyone who wants to come, then I'm going to the tractor pull with my dad, and spaghetti at Grandma's. It's starting to look like one helluva busy weekend, and it starts tonight! Excited!
Hmmmmmmmm. I just went down to the Rock On Rock Island block party in the District, which is really close to work, and I had me a chili dog and a lemonade. At least something is summery around here. I got my first front page article not long ago, about lawns, gardens and shrubs in the Qc dying. They've passed their dormancy stages and they are dead. It never rains here! Look on the weather map- all over IL is covered with rain and scattered T-storms. But not the good old Quad Cities. Look's like God has something against this place. And their crops. My dad is always calling me and telling me that it is raining it seems like, even if it's only been 3 or so times. I hope I dont have to drive into it on my way home. Eek!
Ahh, this lemonade is fabulous. Maybe if its not raining this weekend I can go swimming at Aunt Becky's between spaghetti and tractor pullin'. I've been using this neutrogena daily moisturizer that is a light sunless tanner and I have a wicked tan line on my foot where the lotion doesn't go. And if you're not careful, orangey looking kneecaps is what you'll end up with. But I have not had a chance to get outside and tan, I don't want to spend money I don't have to tan here (maybe up in Chucktown for awhile)... and I have really pale legs where u can see all my veins haha. It's just a little bit of pigment to cover that and make me less self conscious, that's all.
Time to go. Lala dumdeedum I'm bored.
Eek!

Fuel Injector Woes
So 3 out of 6 of the Corsica's fuel infectors were shot. It's gonna cost about $130 each. So I'm still broke. The guy wanted to put new spark plugs in but that was a few hundred more, so daddy said no thanks- I don't think we're there quite yet.
Anyway the poor thing wasn't getting enough gas into the engine when accelerating or going uphill. So it'll be fixed today, and hopefully it will have cured the problem. The head mechanic drove it and felt it and that's what he said it most likely was. I guess there's no guarantees but daddy's going to get it fixed either way.
Rachelowe I sent my friend April an e-mail and told her I'll most likely go to Fright Fest so maybe she would want to wait until then, but I still haven't heard back. I donno when I'd ever get a chance to be that close! Do I owe u anything?

My Corsica
is acting up. I took it 1000 different places and left work early to see what's wrong with it. Whenever I accelerate or go uphill, and sometimes when I'm driving at a steady pace, it stalls a bit. It doesn't completely die but it feels like the engine loses horsepower and then starts acting normal again.
So that I wouldn't get taken by auto shops in the area bc I don't know what I'm doing, my parents made an impromptu trip to the QC to pick her up, and leave me with the van. I'm at work early because they just left about 15 minutes ago. I hope they make it home, but either it better be fixed, or it better stall once on the way home so dad can feel what its like and get it fixed. I'ma coming home to get 'er this weekend, as planned. But I hate the van, and am no longer looking forward to driving 4 hours without a cd player. What will I DO TO STAY AWAKE!?!
That's news for now, stay tuned for updates.

My ADVISER told me to chill out
With all the time on my hands, I always seem to find something to freak out about. Weeks ago, it was graduating on time.I wrote my adviser, who is the journalism dept. chair, a 1500-word e-mail about it. He wrote back:
Very nice, reassuring. Something to bring a smile to my face right before bed.
This place reminds me everyday that I wish it was Halloween. Feels like fall, save for the heat of course- but everything is so dry, the leaves are falling off the trees. My dad told me it poured like a bitch last night. It did not rain one fraction of an inch here. I felt sprinkles as I walked to my car this morning, so maybe it will hit us today. Hopefully not before I get out to the Mercer County Fair and grab me a carnie or two to interview. Haha.
Not much new, off to work.
Laura, don't panic. I checked your file again and you're still good to go.

Rachel's no longer a minor!
Happy B-day Rachelowe! I am hoping you will not read this at least for 2 more hours. Cuz technically right now u are, in fact, 20.
Diane that is really wierd.
Maybe you can see the future or something, wouldn't that be a nasty case of deja vu for the both of you if that actually happens now?
I have an obsession with the following song so I thought I'd share before I go to bed and try to catch up on the sleep I missed last night.
Caring is Creepy- The Shins
Love that song. The Garden State Soundtrack is dominating my mind and mood.

Caring is Creepy- The Shins
I think I'll go home and mull this over
Before I cram it down my throat
At long last it's crashed, the colossal mass
Has broken up into bits in my moat.
Lift the mattress off the floor
Walk the cramps off
Go meander in the cold
Hail to your dark skin
Hiding the fact you're dead again
Underneath the power lines seeking shade
Far above our heads are the icy heights that contain all reason
It's a luscious mix of words and tricks
That let us bet when you know we should fold
On rocks I dreamt of where we'd stepped
And the whole mess of roads we're now on.
Hold your glass up, hold it in
Never betray the way you've always known it is.
One day I'll be wondering how
I got so old just wondering how
I never got cold wearing nothing in the snow.
This is way beyond my remote concern
Of being condescending
All these squawking birds won't quit.
Building nothing, laying bricks.
Love that song. The Garden State Soundtrack is dominating my mind and mood.
This is soooo weird!!!
Ok so I woke up this morning with an okward feeling. I had a dream about Caleb. So I get online put up an away messge that says "thats strange." Then fall back asleep. When I wake up I have two messages one from AndyG and Caleb both saying they had dreams about me. So I instantly IM Caleb back b/c we both had dreams about each other. Its crazy!!! Caleb and I had the same dream!!! In both of our dreams I was crying and hugging him, but we can't remember what I was crying about. I've always wonder if its possible when you dream about someone if that person is having the same dream and now I have proof. Its totally freaky but way cool at the same time. Now we just have to figure out what I was crying about.
My damn lunchbox is missing
I don't know where it went! I'm going to do some serious room cleaning tonight because it has to be in my room or in the newsroom, and from what I can see it's not in here. It makes me freak out because for a stupid reason I'm sure that pack makes me feel safer at work because my mommy uses it at home. Therefore also I can't lose it, but I can't imagine where it would have gone besides my car- where it also isn't.
Anyways, 3 more weeks. actually it's 18 days. sounds delightful eh? I'm coming home this weekend but I won't get to see anybody unless we all go on that Budweiser tour. Besides that, if I can't go then whoever else isn't going I can see- but most probably it will be a family weekend. I'll get home late friday and want to relax- then sat at 6:30 my dad wants me to go to the Jersey County TRACTOR PULL Yee Haw! Then I have to leave Sunday afternoon to get here before dark.
After THAT weekend, which will go by quickly, I will have 11 days including one weekend where hopefully I'll finally get to see some Swing baseball (a Cards minor league team here) which I will even if I have to do it alone... and then the next weekend the parents are coming to get me. The countdown is getting more and more exciting. I'm just lonely and a little out of place here, and it only seems to be getting worse instead of better. Ahh hang in there....

So sweet and true!
You might be best friends one year, pretty good friends the next year, don't talk that often the next year, and don't want to talk at all the year after that. So, I just wanted to say, you are special to me and you have made a difference in my life, I look up to you, respect you, and truly cherish you.
Whoa pictures!
You love me...smile!

Now for Rachelowe.
Thomas, that was weird- we posted like two minutes apart. I was confused when I saw your post I wondered where mine went hehe.
Anyways Rachel, don't worry so much. I got your text message but not til this monring. Hey if your birthday wasn't on a Tuesday I woulda made plans with ya. You're one of the most common ppl I hang out with at home. I don't really enjoy going to get drunk very often but I woulda for your special occassion.
Don't feel so bad! You have plenty of friends who love you, and u know everyone in existance! Guess what I did on my 21st birthday? Since all my friends at school except the DEN were under 21? I met my old roommate Ashley at a bar, after she was already wasted. She, in turn, threw up and proceeded to leave me with her creepy and bisexual roommate I didn't know who was trying to get with some dudes the whole time. So there I was, waiting for some DEN ppl I knew from work but never really hung out with, by myself, at a bar I'd never been to, surrounded by drunk ppl who didn't know I existed. Later, Aaron, Woike, Jenni and Hillary showed up and things got a lot better, but by then the moment had passed and I was just mellowed out for the night, ready for bed. We went to Jenni's after the bar closed (on a Wed. mind you) to drink more, where I proceeded to feel tired, then suddenly kinda sick from all the hard alcohol, skipping the fun drunk part. When I went home I ate crackers and drank some Pepto and went to sleep. All in all it was ok, but obviously nothing fun to remember and/or spectacular. Ur b-day will surely beat that.
Happy B-Day (early) Rachelowe. I'll call you when you're no longer underage ;)

The Guinness Diet Blog
Holy shit blogs are in the news today. This dude drank Guinness for a week straight, 4 to 10 pints a day. The only other thing he consumed was a pint of milk and a vitamin c supplement. Talk about a beer binge.
http://theguinessdiet.blogspot.com
Again, same blog we use. More later as I finish stories and finish reading the news.

Murderer's blog
Isn't it amazing and excrutiatingly frightening that someone could use blogger, the very same blog we use to keep up with one another's thoughts, lives, and to do stupid surveys, to write down his thoughts about killing? I read this in the newspaper this morning and I decided to search it. I found his blog site.
http://fifthnail.blogspot.com/
It belongs to sex offender Joesph Duncan III. He kidnapped a family along with their friend recently, and although they found the little girl, Shasta Groene, in a restaurant with him, and recovered her, the others are believed to be dead. Google his name and see what you get.
Anyways, sorry to post such depressing news. But it is interesting to me.

So, what is up?
I'm experiencing a busy week, and I love the rush compared to the regular, wait for a story, do the story, go home. I'm actually waiting on phone calls from several people presently, so I decided to post.
This is going by so fast. Soon it will be over. Soon as in.... oh, 21 days. I'm just working to get some great clips right now. I don't have anything spectacular but a few I can say I'm proud of, and 3 more weeks of chances to go.
This weekend I'm going to be here alone, and I'm going to take the opportunity to go see a play called Oedipus at Colona. Funny, I think there's a Colona around here as well, although the one in the play is obviously not in Illinois. I really liked classical mythology at SIUE, and in high school. It's one of my wierd interests that not a lot of people share. Oedipus is one of my favorite myths, because of the whole story having to do with a designed fate, and the connection with Freud's human complex theories, such as the Oedipus and Jocasta complexes.
I saw a CSI episode one night about the Jocasta complex that blew my mind. For those of you that don't know, Jocasta was Oedipus's mom, and also his wife. In the episode, a homosexual patient at a mental hospital was killed. As the story unraveled and intimate details of the victim and the murderer spilled out, we find out that the a fellow patient at the hospital is severely messed up because of the way he was raised. When his father died, his mother used him as a replacement husband, and had sex with him and all that. It drove him crazy, and several suicide attempts put him in the hospital. His mother kept sending him love letters, but the nurses stopped them, because everytime he would get one, he would go into a psychotic fit. Once she was cut off, his mother changed her name and got a job at the hospital to be closer to him. (Apparently, he wasn't the only one mentally off.) When he saw her, the suicide attempts began again, but he never told anyone about her, I guess he was afraid.
To separate himself sexually from his mother, he had sex with the homosexual character who was later murdered. By his mom, because she was jealous.
Even though he hated his mom and was repulsed by her, she was still his mother, so he tried to cover up her deed and confessed to the police. But they found her guilty because those TV CSIs sure are slick ;)
Moral of the story, that was a creepy episode. But great.
I forgot where I was going I got so into that story. Oh yes. Plays, and things I like to do but no one else will do them with me. My old roommate Kate (SIUE, Cougar Village) was a theater major/dance minor. I've always been interested in the stuff, so I went to go see her a lot. I remember this one play, it was hilarious! It was called, and excuse the spelling Bobrauschenbergamerica, all one word just like that. It was all over the place and extremely entertaining. The night I saw it I could have described it better- here's from the other blog:
"She put on a 50's bikini, with her platinum blond wig, danced around pouring fake vodka all over a big black tarp.... she put on the finishing touch- the olive, and then proceeded to use the giant martini as a slip 'n' slide."
The bikini was flippin tan and the scene was HILARIOUS. I kinda miss Kate I wonder if she graduated and ended up in South Carolina. Or better yet- is she still with Alex? hmm...

Good Monday err.. Tuesday morning...
I am so behind a day because of the holiday. Damn Thomas you sure had a busy weekend. So you found the church for the wedding eh? Had you guys ever figured out a date yet? We are getting so old. When I was at my friend April's party I found out she was turning 23 not 22. I know she just graduated but I was completely unaware or it slipped my mind that she took a year off for basic training or something before she started school. She can get deployed now that she is out of school. Anyway I don't know why it surprised me, a lot of my school friends are older. Just makes you think.
You saw Rachelowe's legs? I attempted this weekend to get some tan on my legs. I pretty much failed that mission. Oh well. In about 24 days... I'll really get to relax. Wow it's going by quickly, and for that I am glad. I might even miss the QC a bit, for the area, not for the ppl for there are none that I know. Still.
What exactly happened at this 4th of July party? I keep hearing that it was so great and I feel like I really missed out!
Diane- congrats on your test. I was talking the other day about how I've never flown on a plane, so since you're staying in Texas maybe I will have to save up some money and keep track of ticket prices. Maybe I'm getting a second chance. That is, if you will have me ;) For a round trip right now the prices are from $333. I've seen them like as low as $319 but not much better.
Well, must get to work.

Happy 4th, You
Happy 4th of July!
How went my weekend?
Went to April Mae June July's for her graduation party. Not a whole lot of people came, but I met some of her friends from how and it was pretty interesting. The backyard was set up real nice with bar decs (her dad used to own his own bar) and tiki torches around the pool, a keg in the garage next to a tent/bar.
It was a good time. We ate tons of food- italian beef sandwiches, cake and tons of veggies (April's a vegetarian if you didn't know). As it grew closer to 1 a.m., April's friends were growing antsy because they wanted to go to this bar, City Tavern, which as it turns out is mucho like Stix. For you guys, since you haven't been there- this is Stix- A little annoying... you know you don't want to go but you end up there anyway to see who came, because it's "the place to see people and be seen." Either that or you got drunk and figured you could put up with the crowds to get your groove on a little.
Anyway- to City we went, then back to April's to crash.
Slept in, or moreso than I have this summer. When we awoke, we got in the pool and laid out and swam all day with April's step mom, dad and step sister. I was working on a tan. Later we went to the mall to hit up Victoria's Secret. Suddenly her friend Mary called and asked if we wanted to take the train (the Metra, from University Park) into Chicago and watch the fireworks there. We went.
Taste of Chicago was happening down in Grant Park so we got some garlic cheese bread because they had run out of everything else and we already bought food tickets. We found ourselves a nice little standing area on a path next to some bushes. April ate her cheesebread, even though she had gotten flustered and dropped it on the ground. We did not brave those crazy crowds for nothing, I guess I don't blame her.
We watched an incredible fireworks show over Lake Michigan. When we headed back, we decided to walk around town before we hit up the train station. We walked down toward Michigan Avenue. I couldn't believe what I saw before my eyes. April was stunned too, and I wish I had brought my camera. Wall to wall people flooded Michigan Avenue and connecting streets. The people were taking over the city. It looked like something I had only seen in movies before. We walked. ON MICHIGAN AVENUE, around, downtown, across the river and past the Wrigley Building. Amazing. All the people, it was a little overwhelming, but at the same time, incredible. We stopped at Millenium Park, to make a wish in the new fountain. I found myself staring at the people. Trying to figure out who was a tourist, and who was a townie. All the bars were packed. I wonder how many people I knew were down there.
Around 11:15 we decided to go to the Randolph Street station and we caught a train back to University Park and drove back to Bradley. As soon as we got around 1:45 I showered and went to sleep. The melting ice from the vendors at "Taste" had run into the street... with all the people herding themselves through the maze of humanity, a sludgy substance had clung to April's jeans (which I had borrowed) and turned my green sandals a brownish color.
This morning I woke up and drove back to the QC. It rained a lot of the way, but strangely I wasn't scared of the rain on the road, as I have been usually since the accident with Diane and I on the way to Texas. The area hasn't had rain all month, and the grass is a hard, yellow hay-like mass. We needed it. Could have used it a day later. I saw on the news that East Moline had their 4th of July parade regardless, and many people had watched it from their car. All we need is another bout like that tonight, while I sleep. That's so peaceful, to fall asleep to the rain falling to the ground, and to wake up and go to work smelling fresh rain and enjoying the cool air.
I'm sorry I missed Emily's party. Em- your message, "I'd like to thank everyone from this weekend. It was the BEST weekend of my LIFE!! I hope I NEVER forget ANY of it!!! :-D (but sad cuz marc is gone :-()" makes me wish especially that I had been there. And I wish I coulda met Marc. But I guess it doesn't sound like he's going anywhere anytime soon. You should post some details, I'd love to hear about it!
Currently getting things cleaned up around the dorm, listening to some relaxing music. Garden State Soundtrack. I recently watched it again. The first time I had a hard time taking it all in. And it had to live up to the standards that Woike had implanted in my head. It's not as great as he says it is, but thought provoking, and overall good movie.
Have a great remainder of the holiday.
