I don't post much anymore but I keep this around in case someone does. We can try to resurrect it if you want. I should e-mail everyone...

Bitches

Dear Bitches (I say it with love)

Hey! What happened to this thingy btw? I just thought I'd post to see if anyone else does within the near future. I totally forgot about this blog until today so I thought I'd post. We all pretty much keep in touch through myspace and facebook, but this is easier to contact everyone at once and it be private. Well somewhat private I guess.

Oh, if anyone is interested I have some extra tickets to the Cards Cubs game at Wriggy for September 20th. Lemme know! Should be an awesome time!

I have far too many blogs

So Emily has started posting again, that's good.
I always said this could be an effective tool in keeping in touch. Wish more people would get into it.

Alright Emily, here's the update, if you're still reading:

I have... five blogs:
*This one *One for Daily Eastern News Alumni that no one reads *Lala Land  *ILuvSTL- a St. Louis blog *My MySpace one *Things that get posted on facebook... I guess I have more than five, eh? I try to keep them updated. At least LaLa Land, my MySpace and my facebook. So if you ever feel the need to see what I'm up to these days or to contact me...
OH!
I now also blog as part of my job! http://hereandthere.freedomblogging.com

Work
I'm not really digging it. I mean, it has its pluses and minuses but I guess I always thought of working here as a way to launch my career rather than a place to stay forever. I've been here since Rachelowe's 22nd birthday - so, about 1.25 years-ish. I'm wondering if I want to be in newspaper journalism for the rest of my life, and I'll tell you the answer is probably not yes. I don't think it's my forte. At least, I'd like to see what else is out there in the world of journalism before sticking to this forever. Maybe PR? Maybe publishing? Maybe ... who knows? I'm keeping my options open. For the time being, I'm trying to make the most of what I do here. I don't think I get the chance to bloom to my full potential being that I copy edit sometimes and write sometimes and design sometimes. I don't get to hone my skills and become especially good at anything. The upside is that I can do EVERYTHING to an efficient degree, so I should be pretty marketable. The company is getting cheaper and they are starting to offer people severance pay to leave, in order to save money. If not enough people do that, they will start to let people go. Not me people- people who make good money. They wouldn't save much by letting me go, because since I have two jobs here, I would need to be replaced. And I'm not getting the sense that they are wanting to replace any of these vacant positions. The bad news is I have a whole lot more work coming to me after the change, and that eventually newspapers are going to be on their way out. The good news is, they are wanting to move me to a more normal schedule (Mon-Fri instead of Sun-Thurs) and I am getting online experience as we speak, so when newspapers do go out, I have experience in the online realm.
Enough about work.

Living at home
Ah yes, I still live with my parents. After talking to a bunch of people I'm starting to not understand why I can't move out. I mean, people who make less than me are living on their own. I guess they don't all have expensive car loans and student loan bills, but some do. I've set a goal for myself. I don't know whether I'll meet it or not but I'm starting to think I'll be able to find something reasonable sometime soon. By this April, I want to be in an apartment of my own. I don't know where- that's half the battle- but if I did know where and then I got any offers for jobs in other places, that would have to change wouldn't it? Anyway, I'm hoping that by April I have an idea of where my career is going and I can situate myself in a position to go forward with it, so to speak. David gets out of his lease in April so we can move in together -- and then we'll only need one bedroom and the apartments will be cheaper when split between two people. If we stay in the area, we've seen a couple apartments for 550 and less that are pretty decent in St. Louis. I always wanted to live in that city for at least a year. David wants to go back to school, so that might influence where we go. We've talked about leaving the area- and having a city of our own (Diane has Austin, Thomas has Cincy)... but we don't know. We're young, after all. Whatever happens, happens. I just can't live with my parents anymore. While they're very helpful and they do a lot for me, I don't mean to sound ungrateful, it's time that they respected me as an adult and I did my own thing.

The boyfriend
All this talk about living with David probably seems a bit foreign to you, because I haven't told you much about us. To sum it up -- he is the best friend that has that missing piece. You know, you have guy friends that you love everything about but just can't see yourself with them? That's the missing piece. Being with him and being attracted to him has never felt so right with anyone else. He's everything :) So expect to hear a lot more about him in the future then :)

Hmmm what else?
Volleyball still rocks. We finally got Norb's to pay our league fees so we play for free now. Another reason we'd like to stay in the area. Ron's gone now tho, and that makes Norb's about 33 percent less cool. But I guess we will survive.

My birthday is next Saturday and my friend Brian O'Malley is coming into town. Whoever's into it-- we're all going to the City Museum Satty night, which should be a good time. My old roommate was supposed to come but she stays away from St. Louis like she's avoiding the plague or something. It's people like her that make me dislike Chicago at times -- the ones that are too stuck up to even visit a place to see a supposedly good friend. I've been to Chicago several times since grad in 2006 and she's never been here- always with the excuses. This time, she's too poor. Maybe because she spends all her money on fake designer purses she buys from Chinatown. Sorry... it just miffs me a little. I asked her to come about 5 months ago, which would have given her ample time to ask off and save some money for a weekend (she has Saturdays off already). And this wasn't important to her I guess.

I went to visit Diane in Austin recently, which was awesome. You should definitely go if you get a chance. I can't wait to go back sometime.

Thomas and Beth have been married one year today. Isn't that wierd? They got Guitar Hero III for the Wii as their present to one another, which I also bought. It's very addicting. Sometime soon I might be able to play a song on hard. Maybe. Did u see that South Park about Guitar Hero? It was pretty funny.

David and I, and Rachelowe, hung out with Abby and Kevin last night, and played Guitar Hero, haha. Brianne is so cute. I don't hold her yet, tho-- she's so tiny. Plus I held her once at the hosptial and she cried. Tiny babies don't like me. They sense my fear. They're so small I feel like I'll break them. When she's a bit older she'll like me more I'm sure. Right now she's not even a month old though.

Alright that covers about everything. Hope all is well.

My e-mail is dumb

I'm sitting here, waiting for gmail to actually send this e-mail, and for some reason it's a really hard task. For some reason it doesn't appear to be working. OK- there it goes.

So life is back to normal, now that my vacation's over. Well, for the most part.

It turns out The Telegraph is even cheaper than I previously imagined. They're getting ready to offer ppl with a lot of seniority buyouts-- and they're hiring NO ONE in their places. Did I mention if people don't take these buyouts, the highest paid employees will start getting laid off? I'm not in danger of getting laid off, because I work for cheap and it would cost too much to replace me (which they would have to since I am both a reporter and a designer). I might, starting in a few weeks, be moved from Sunday-Thursday and designing two nights to Monday-Friday and designing only on Mondays. That could be good. More day shifts. Course I'd still be covering vacations on the design side.

Anyway, I'll update more on my vacation and on my current situation at home and work when I get more time. Volleyball starts in 20 minutes. (Which Norb's now pays for, so its free!)

One last thing--David is wonderful, and he and I have never been happier. Yay for me!

More l8er.

BORED

Hey all! Thought I'd type a lil since I'm a lil bored. Don't wanna watch tv or do school work so I'm surfin the web.

School is going well, I'm making the highest grades I've ever made in my life, so I really think I found something that "fits" me. I have a bunch to do, but I don't have motivation right now to do anything. Like workin on my 20 page paper, picking my "top 10" practicum sites, workin on my lifespan final, writing my transcript for my 30 minute intake interview video, and much much more!!

Hockey is goin pretty well too. I love everyone on my women's team, they are so laid back and super nice. Our record isn't the greatest at 4-3-2 as of now. And I played my first game with my coed team sunday, which they seem like a good bunch of guys, and there are a total of 4 of us girls. I scored the only 2 goals in that game, but we still lost 3-2. But it made me feel like I "proved" myself, since I'm kinda like the "newbie".

well I guess I'll jump off of here and you bitches need to start blogging!

Back in Action

OK!
I'm really going to try my hardest to start communicating on this thing! Hopefully other people will too!
So how has everyone been doing? I'm making it through midterms, slowly, but I'm makin it. Grad school is def more reading than I could ever imagine! But its not bad once you get into the grove of things.
All 5 of the animals are doing great!! They love it here, and so does Ryan. We are doing amazing! The best we've been in a long time! I think a lot had to do with moving and being away from past stuff that always started fights.

My parents were in town for the weekend, which was actually not too bad at all. We all had fun. They stayed from Friday afternoon till late night on Monday. We went to see "Wicked" Friday night, which was amazing! Then we went to a wedding on Saturday (my dad married his friend's son up here). Everyone, got completly trashed and me and ryan convinced my mom to go to the bars with us after the wedding. My dad was too tired and went to bed (but he drank a lot! haha) We kept my mom out past 1am and it was crazy! Then took her home and me and Ryan stayed out until 5am. Needless to say I got sick the next day! But everyone felt like they got hit by a buss so we didn't do much of anything. Monday me and my parents went to Shedd and that was a good time. I love fishies!! hehe. Ryan had to work so he didn't get to hang out, but we all went and had dinner when he got off work.

So all in all, I had a great weekend. Now its back to writing papers, reading, and studyin my bootay off! But we are more than half way done with the semester and it hasn't been too bad. I've learned a ton of cool stuff, like how to diagnose a personality disorder (there are 10) and how to do a clinical interview (which is actually super hard!).

Well Ryan should be back from Blockbuster soon with some movies. So I hope someone responds to this post!

New blogs

While you guys are busy not reading this, I created two new blogs for myself.

Check out http://onetoomanyblogs.blogspot.com/ for my personal ramblings. This is a transfer site from www.xanga.com/oohlala1983, which will be used for Cardinals purposes only from now on.

My St. Louis blog is the main project here though, and if all others fail, this one will not. Please do check it from time to time as I hope to update it often.

http://ilovestlouis.blogspot.com/

I spend so much time talking about it and hepping it up for people, I thought I'd get a little more technical and show off what I love so much. And don't love, for that matter.

One Year Anniversary coming up

Coming up on one year with The Telegraph. July 12 (Rachelowe's b-day!)

I have been out of school for more than a year now, and I'm still adjusting to some things: I'm not used to being in one place constantly, and my one year marks one year of being at home with no changes in the forseeable future.

I always liked having something to count down to:
3 more weeks until I come home from Rock Island... 1 month before Christmas vacation... 2 years until graduation... stuff like that.

Now its:
One month until...
OH WAIT, I'll be doing the same thing in a month, possibly for a lot longer than that.
I'll be in the same place doing the same thing and nothing seems like its going to change.

I'm getting comfortable, but comfort is feeling a lot like boredom right now. And it also leaves me a little scared. Everytime I seem to get comfortable with my own situation, other people change and my situation changes when I don't want it to and there's nothing I can do about it. I hate being powerless.

I need to do something to take control of my life, but I don't like running everytime there's a possibility other people might change.

6.03.2007

"I'm pregnant." ........ "With a baby??"

Sorry guys, I can't remember any other quotes from "Knocked Up," even though it was pretty damned funny.

So I saw this particular movie on date No. 1 -- last night.
I realize saying it was date No. 1 seems a little silly being that I've been hanging out with the guy for about three weeks (even more if you factor in that his roommate was my boyfriend for a time) but nonetheless, I will tell you of my first date experience.

David had to work until 9ish, so I met him over at his place beforehand. I put a little effort into not looking like a skank, because, well -- that's what you do. I wore a new skirt I bought this weekend (one article of my $400 worth of purchases this weekend on a shopping spree I gave myself) and a black shirt. I put on eye makeup (woooo, he should feel special). He wore this very attractive brown shirt he bought recently, and we all know I love me some brown.

He drove over to the Mills for the movie and paid... a new concept since our previous hanging out has been mostly as friends/a little more. Then we went to Denny's on the way back because we miss it dearly. (Speaking of which, I am STARVING right now. I had to go home for lunch before I was hungry to take an allergy pill. The Telegraph is literally killing me slowly.)

Afterward we went back to his place and played some iLike music challenge (new to Facebook, of which I am still a huge geek) and then I left after awhile.

I realize this was not a fancy restaurant/Dave and Buster's night, or talking over dinner to get to know one another (the kind of date which I have grown accustomed to as of late) but that's part of why this is different. I'm trying to adjust because I still feel like it's soon to be dating, for me, yet because it's David -- and we go to see a movie we've been talking about forever and to Denny's, which was a staple when we hung out previous to our current situation -- I can still have a lot of fun doing it.

He's really a great guy, and if this doesn't work or nothing really comes of it I hope he and I can stay good friends. I can't help but smile around him, but I have been careful not to be so serious... just go and have fun... because I still feel out of my element and can't be too sure abotu anything right now. He knows this, I'm pretty sure. I have tried to be as open about that with him as I can. That way, hopfully, we are preserving that possibility.

This weekend, all in all, was pretty decent.

Can't wait till sand volleyball...

Making babies is fun!!!

http://www.knockedupbabymaker.com/

Go see the movie.
