That's cool you're getting a cat.
I can't have indoor pets. they would literally make me want to die, a little like I wanna die now. You will all know in more depth if you read my column which is on www.thedailyeasternnews.com
I wrote it because Matt's here. I thought tonight was going really well but he got drunk and he's being really standoffish. And the only thing I can get him to talk about is his dog, to which he replies, "You hate Wrigley."
I cannot get him to understand that I am just not a dog person plain and simple. But I think it would mean something that I have the dog in my house anyway, not to mention I'm breaking my lease for something I don't even like, just because I like being around him. Ultimately, I think the dog wins.
We were (my roommate and I) were trying to get him to stay through tomorrow night to go to my friend Stephen's birthay party, but he hasn't said yes or no, which for most people is a lean toward no.
I think things are falling apart, and I'm really upset right now. Not as upset as I woud normally be but that's because I have bite marks up and down my arms from trying to teach the mongrel to get the fuck off my furniture. Little dogs I can handle at times... this one, is NOT LITTLE.
He passed out on my couch and the dog wouldn't quit barking, so I left and I took a shower and now I'm typing this. It's been an hour since we got back from Hatter's. I can't tell if he's asleep or not, but I wish he was sober. If he was I would tell him I don't feel the wierdness between us anymore, I'm not worried about Hillary, and I would like to make this work. But I can't work miracles and I think I may have to stop this if it doesn't get any better. I'm tired, and I can't do this much longer. It feels terrible.
Here's the column:
==================
Can't Live With 'Em... indoors
I can't imagine sharing a living space with a dog. I don't plan on doing so in this lifetime or any other, especially since having pets goes against my lease anyway. But, I'll bet it wouldn't be a lot of fun.
Last spring, the girl I was trying to get a house with had a dog. Lily was one of the smallest, sweetest dogs I have ever come into contact with, but she made signing a lease nearly impossible. Other possible roommates were ruled out as well because they wanted to bring their dogs to school, and time, as well as the decreasing number of vacancies in Charleston, was not on my side.
When I was younger, I loved animals. My first dog's name was Rusty. Rusty roamed my subdivision freely, and like others before him, he was dubbed the beloved "neighborhood dog."
One day, Rusty didn't come home. My dad broke the news to my 11-year-old self and my little brother that a car killed Rusty. We were heartbroken.
Years later, our wounds had healed, and we sprang for a new furry friend. He was all white with little patches of brown on his head and backbone. We called him Hershey.
We didn't know what to do with Hershey, since the family unanimously decided the indoors were no place for a dog. They drool and shed all over and trigger some wicked allergies.
The only thing we knew was Hershey would not suffer the same fate as his yellow-lab mix predecessor.
Since our backyard was small and we had limited options, we tied him up, giving him about a 10-foot roaming radius. It began as a temporary solution. That was 10 years ago.
One might argue that my family is horribly inhumane and that Hershey is a poor mistreated pup. I won't be surprised to hear from animal lovers all over campus, but I must agree to disagree about my dog's living conditions.
Hershey is healthy, lean and muscular. He has a healthy appetite and has suffered no diseases, to my knowledge, since the day we got him. He's lived almost nine and one-half years longer than Rusty.
He certainly hasn't suffered from any lack of love or affection. Not a day goes by that my dad doesn't spend at least an hour of quality time with him. If I were home, I'd make it a point to go see him more often than I do now.
The only time he's ever been inside the house was once when he was a puppy. Since all he ever did was sleep when he was small -the polar opposite of the way he is now- we put him on a carpet square in the walkway to our front door. That's the extent to which he's tasted the life of an indoor pet.
He hasn't had it any worse than any of our other pets. The only ones that have made it inside my house have been those that lived in tanks or small cages.
Besides, what do people suggest we do with Hershey? I'm sure he'd have a better life at the pound. Or better yet, we could have just had him put to sleep once we realized maybe a dog wasn't the pet for us.
Although he smells a little funky and gets overly hyper at times, and although I'm not the biggest fan of his kind, he's still my dog. He has a special place in my heart, as he has since the day we brought him home.
What is good for some people can't always be good for others, and the real truth is, Hershey doesn't know any better. Maybe what he doesn't know really can't hurt him after all.

Man, you're crazy.... you're crazy but I love you.
Cory- I'd love to hang out. I gotta make sure my parents don't plan on coming to parents weekend first. Otherwise it won't be fun. Cuz I don't wanna drink or hang out with friends and leave my parents to themselves. I'll let you know if they plan on coming or not.
Matt's coming tomorrow. Excited!

You guys suck.
Rachelowe- if you have to work during the day I might hit you up on that offer for a haunted house the weekend of Oct. 7-8, but it will be just you and me.
Everyone is busy, broke or out of town. This Halloween quite possibly might suck a big one.
I think I have it figured out tho. Come home Friday afternoon- hang out with the parents. Fix my computer. Go to church Saturday night, maybe some dinner with the grandparents. Maybe shop for a new computer. Wake up super early and drive back to my beloved Chucktown.
But like I said, if you can go to Fright Fest or a Haunted House I can def. make time. Other than that- that's my plan. It's the last time I'll be home until Thanksgiving! I gotta at least check out your apartment.

Holy hell my schedule is packed!
Let's see... Oct. 21...
probably no good there buddy. It's ASA parents weekend and my parents might come. I can let u know if they don't, but yeah- it won't be much fun if you guys sit at my house while me and the rents go do sorority stuff.
Weekends coming up:
*this weekend- Sept. 23- Stephen Haas turns 24- big ass party down the street on Friday, parents maybe coming up Saturday for EIU Family weekend, have to cover a football game sunday for sports writing.
*Sept. 30- DEN Bar Crawl- only the best day of the semester, Friday. Alpha bowl philanthropy at noon/all day Saturday.
*Oct. 7- Fall break- probably coming home to get my computer fixed and possibly look for a new one. Maybe a haunted house, who knows?
Fright Fest still ANYONE?!? do I have to go by myself? cuz I will- I did that shit all summer hehe. Oh plus I need to switch out for some winter apparel.
*Oct. 14- Hopefully Joaquin, Kevin, April and several others come back for Homecoming- plus it's going to be hella busy with the Sig Pis and tons o' partying with both the DEN and the sorority. Who to choose....
*October 21- Parents Weekend for ASA. Maybe the rents will come. Again, I'll let u know.
*Oct. 28- I didn't want to have to do this but it looks like I might be going to a journalism conference in Kansas City, MO. over Halloween Weekend. Yes, I will bring along my fake blood. I hope the stains don't bother my potential employees.
*Nov. 6- HOLY SHIT A FREE DAY- before D-Days start for my sorority on Sunday. No drinking! WOO.
*Nov. 11- Gotta cover a swim meet for sports writing Friday night, then if ASA gets off social probation I'm hitting up semi-formal. Maybe I'll have a date this year.... who doesn't suck monkey balls. Elections all day sunday for ASA.
*Nov. 18- Holy Moly it's my birthday weekend!! Technically my birthday is on a Thursday, so I'm planning on making everyone here go play bingo with me and get wasted. Party it up all night. Drive home Friday for Thanksgiving break. Party at home with whoever's there. Get drunk some more. Have a peaceful break. Get some fricking rest. P.S. Harry Potter 4 is on at the movies. I'm going to see it. Who's coming with me? Again, not scared of going alone.
*Nov. 24- Will I be at home? At school? Break is ending but who knows what I'll feel like??
*Dec. 2- ANOTHER BREAK! Until something gets added later on the events calendar.
*Dec. 9- Senior sendoff for the semester girls at ASA on Friday, ASA Christmas Party on Saturday.
FINALS WEEK- The one week you crazies all dread and we journalists LONG for. No paper, no homework, sometimes no finals.... getting drunk every night. God finals week is cool.
*Dec. 16- Coming home?? We shall see. Since I have a house I may not be coming home until most ppl here are gone. We will see- maybe by this time I will long for home.
So there you have it. My life. Or bits and pieces of it. I'm sure more will be added to the calendar. I didn't include any social events with ASA or any of the fraternities. Delta Sig usually has a festivus- which I so rudely missed at Caleb's last year. PICA POLE- oh that will be fun. Plus weekends when I gotta see Matt- if this lasts. Which I hope it does! I guess this weekend is another deciding factor. I'm going to try my hardest to get past the wierd. Gotta love it.

Just Let Me Know
Hey guys,
If no one can go that weekend I need to know (Thanks for letting me know Rachelowe and Emily) because then I may or may not be coming home that weekend.
I probably will because I need to get a new computer and get my old one fixed, but I probably won't be staying as long. And I won't have Matt come with me. So yeah, let me know.
GTG to class....

Almost Fall!!!!
I am very excited about the fact that its beginning to get colder outside. Laura ~ I'd be more than happy to go to six flags w/u BUT I have stuff that weekend... :( I need to go get bonus at this lecture thingy on friday from 7-9, I don't know if I could go real quick and sign the sheet and leave, or how that'll work. Then on saturday I have practice @ 7:30. And I really don't want to skip that cuz we have a tournament at the end of the month and I'm payin out the ass to play, so I need to be there.
newho, my teacher let us out early today, which gave me a two hour break... So that is why I am home right now, cuz I wasn't about to sit at school bored off my ass. Besides, I threw in some laundry so I am at least somewhat productive for bein home.
Curtis has kinda been a butt lately, I think he is really afraid of loosing me, but I don't know why. I guess cuz I just need a little bit of space, I have a test on Thursday, Monday, and Tuesday, and I have a jammed-packed weekend on top of that. But he's been really clingy the last week or so and its starting to wear down on me.
Well I should pry try to be a little more productive on this sweet break, since I have 30 minutes before I have to go back :(

STEVE HOLT!
Omy god this show (Arrested Development) keeps getting better and better. It seriously is my favorite show- that and CSI (the original).
I can't wait till the second season comes out on DVD. I guarantee Woike will buy it and I will either mooch or show up at their house a lot to watch it. PLUS- season 3 is now on Mondays on Fox at 7:30, which is a completely do-able time for me. For once. It used to be on Sundays during my chapter meetings. THANK GOD. And Fox.

Haunted Houses and Carnivorous Escaped Seals
Rachelowe-
I hope you can go to Fright Fest! I understand the strapped for cash thing though so I may or may not get to go to a haunted house that weekend. Like I said, it also depends on if Matt comes too- I don't know how long I'll get to stay in that case. BUt I'll let you know.
Diane-
Are you getting excited yet? COME HOME AND VISIT ME!
Emily-
I'm glad you got your relationship stuff settled. Congrats, and I hope you're happy with your choice.
Cory-
Love the drunken phone calls. I know it's been a while but I never got a chance to say that.
Thomas-
I played the Momma song the other day.
Momma, you know I love you.....
AS FOR ME- Season 3 of Arrested Development starts tonight. And I'm watching it down at the guys' place.
"I LOVE JUICE!!!!"- Buster

Long Weekend
Just a short note, because thats all I really have time for anymore. Formal recruitment is finally over, so now its time to catch back up on all my other stuff, like work and classes. I totally failed a test last week that I'm kinda bumed out about. But I'll just have to do twice as good next time around. I haven't had time to read your guys blogs but I will do that soon pry tomorrow. Well I should pry go, I'm tired and Curtis wants to get on the net. So I'll post more tomorrow and tell you guys about my weekend and such. Bye
Who's ready for fake blood and rollercoasters?
It's getting near that time. I know Diane doesn't come home until later but I can really only go this one weekend so I need you guys' feedback.
The weekend I can go to Fright Fest is the weekend of my fall break- Oct.7-9. I never have classes on Fridays anyway but this is the only day I can guarantee I won't have ASA stuff I have to go to.
Oct. 7 is a Friday. I asked Matt if he wants to come but he has to see if he has off work that weekend. If I come alone, I'll probably be home Thursday Oct. 6 and we can go either Friday night or Saturday night, and I'll come back for my meeting early Sunday or whatever. If he comes, I probably won't stay home as long because he prolly won't get off as long as I can. (That didn't sound right somehow.) I would personally rather go Friday night. Maybe even if Matt comes, I can get home late Thursday if I have to, hang out Friday night and we can leave on Saturday if he has to. We'll see.
I'd really like you all to meet him if he comes. If not- I'd still really like to see you all and share the fun of halloween and my obsession with you. Emily, I know you have season tickets. Please let me know what works best for all of you and try (if you can help it) not to make permanent plans on that weekend. Especially not Friday night. I will update you all as soon as I know for sure what's going on but I am definitely coming home that weekend, with or without my cute boy.
Hit me up!

When life hands you lemons put them in your bra to make your boobs look bigger
My mommy got in an accident the other day with my neon. She was stopped at the light on West Delmar and Pierce. Some guy rear ended her causing her to hit the car in front of her. She took Roxie into Freer and the neon is only worth 1600 and the damage is 2200. They haven't comfirmed it yet but she is basically totalled. Depending on how much the insurance company will sell it back for and how much it will take for my daddy to fix it we might get it back if its under whatever they give us for it but if not then Roxie will no longer be with us. So now I guess I'm looking for a car.
Should I still come home? So when I say I'm coming home good stuff starts happening for me in SA and bad starts in STL.
Good in SA
-I was offered to be a key holder at Aero which is like an assistant manager but with a little less responsibilities, but turned it down b/c I don't want to work in retail, I didn't/won't be going to school for that, and I had already decided to move home. I have my chance to really shine at Aero b/c we got all new manager and they suck!!! I'm doing a ton of work I don't have to do to keep the store the way it was (which was one of the best!) They don't know how to handle our Aero b/c we are a testing store so our store is waaaaay bigger in comparison to the rest of the Aeros.
-Now DASA wants to work me at the Marriotts where I won't be on call anymore. I'll have a perminate position with them.
-Then I got another call for a massage job, but I didn't call them back since I'm moving and all.
Bad in STL
-No freaking car when I come home.
Which this isn't all that bad but I'm really into signs. Are these signs I should stay?!?!
Cory--
Since I want to go into physical therapy SWIC is one of the only schools around that offer the program and guess what the other closest school is...SIUC. I said something to my mom about going there and she was all like "yeah, ok, let me send you there with Cory so you both can fail out." I don't think she thinks its a good idea for me to go there. haha

Yay for new Alphas!
Recruitment is over!!! And has been for a day, but I have been too busy until now, at five after midnight- to post anything on it. We didn't meet quota, but we were only three away, and we can still snap up to 16 more girls this semester. This is the best Alpha Sigma Alpha has done here in eight years apparently. Which is a sure fire sign we're on the turn-around. We got 33 beautiful and great ladies. And the very first girl I met is now my ASA lil' sis. Her name is Gena, but its pronounced Jenna. I hope I can be a lot better of a big sis than mine was. I don't even know if mine is still an ASA. I don't think she is actually.
It's going to be exciting getting to know them, before I have to graduate :(
Our shirts are kinda cute. They are the NFL symbol only they say ASA in Greek. And on the back it says "Nation's Finest Ladies" "We scored the top picks!"
YAY FOR ALPHA SIGMA ALPHA!
Good luck, Emily, recruiting future D Phi E's. You won't need it. They'll know who's worth hanging around on campus.

Back on track...
Well, I don't know where to begin. I want to first say thank you everyone for support and what not,, and some really good feedback. No, Curtis' is not in the porn industry for one. Another thing, after thinking about it all weekend an partially this week I realize that I was the one at fault and it was my doing of why he acted the way he did in Carrollton and my fault that I broke up with him. No, I am not brain washed but I have been talking to him a lot, esp about why things went down the way they did.
(last week:)
Thursday we went and saw a movie and he had just gotten a new phone (basically the same as mine but a newer version) the night before. So like most guys he was playin with it all night trying to figure out how everything worked. So I was showing him how to send text messages back and forth, but we weren't recieving each others. So then the movie started and we didn't have time to figure out what was goin on with it. When we finally made it back to my house I was so exhausted I just went to bed. He, however, stayed up and tried to figure out what was goin on w/the phones. So its not like he was snooping on purpose. But when he looked in my inbox for those messages he saw some that looked iffy, so he read some of them. ... Yes, I have been talking to Marc and Adam still, and he read their messages to me. He knew who they were and what types of relationships I've had w/them, since I was dating all 3 at once and kept it open between all guys. So he read some stuff he didn't like EX: "we don't have to do anything sexual" I comment from adam because he wanted to come down this upcoming saturday. and from adam "we will see each other soon and I will make it well worth it"
So now you guys can see why he ignored me and "wanted to talk to me but wanted to wait till after the wedding on sunday". Thats what he wanted to talk to me about, just like most people he has been cheated on many of times, and I don't blame him for the way he acted, he didn't know what was going on and he didn't want to start a huge fight up in Carrollton. I feel like an idiot about everything that happened. And he promised me that he would never do that ever again, but instead come to me right from the start. And I believe him, because we have never had a problem until last friday. I'm just glad he acted like that and not worse, cuz if it were the other way around I would pry never talk to him again or something along those lines. So right now I'm just deciding if I want this relationship or not. His daughter is adorable but it was waaay to early for me to meet her. So we will see what happens.
About the whole gay/metrosexual~ I don't think that he is gay. I've actually talked to him about it, I didn't come out and ask him if he was gay, but I told him that he had many metrosexual activities and such that had me worried. So we talked about all that and he explained it to me. 1st off he said he is really sensitive and what not because of past relationships, he said that was what other girls always told him they liked, so after being told so many times he just began to do those types of things, because he thought that was what girls wanted.
I hope this clears everything up
(last week:)

Was Cory drunk when he wrote that?!?
Emily-
The dog= Wrigley, Matt's dog.
Matt= from Roscoe, which is near Rockford. Way north. Currently he is 1.5 hours away working at a newspaper in Danville, Ill.
Sorority recruitment wrap-up=
1st round= met tons of nice girls and only 1 or 2 not so nice ones.
2nd round= made sock puppets for the S. June Smith Center for kids with special needs (much like the Derek Zoolander Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good and Want to Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too, only not)Met 4 new girls and one I'd already met.
Preference night (today)= Met one new girl and had two I'd already known. Several girls came back that I rushed, including Stephanie, Danielle, Gena, Jenna, Tory and Jamie. I hope they get in our house! I'm excited. 114 people came to our pref parties, and our goal is 49. Cross your fingers!
Bid Day= is Tuesday. Yesssssss rush is over!!
Yeah thanks Em! Good luck with yours too. you'll do great!!!!
So exciting :)
Classes=
Hate them. For the most part. They just keep me from getting shit done, pretty much. Gotta talk to my sports writing teacher to work out a deal on covering events that happen to not work out with my schedule.
Family=
Mom's friend Donna died. She's real sad, but I suck at helping ppl feel better about these things. What to do, what to do.
Fright Fest=
Weekend of October 7-9. It's fall break, no classes Friday (not that I EVER have classes on that day, but the thing is- the sorority won't have shit I have to do. Probably banking on Friday evening, but I'll keep you posted if anything changes. Let me know that there will be anough ppl going. I wish we could wait for Diane but the rest of October I have stuff to do for the most part. Maybe not Halloween weekend, we'll see if I end up having to do with the DEN to Kansas City.
Boys=
Can't get over the wierdness. Shouldn't say can't- more like haven't completely been able to yet. Really want to though, on both our parts. He's so damn special. He went to a strip club this weekend with a bachelor party and couldn't have fun because he FELT BAD for the strippers. I don't know why, but I feel like the insensitive male in this instance. Maybe because I enjoy a good gay, naked shower on a bar. But maybe I think it's funny. U would too if you havent already seen it (so I'm specifying this to Thomas and Cory I guess, haha)
Verge=
Going great. Getting used to deadlines, now that sorority stuff should be dying down. Also, weare getting good writers, and maybe soon I won't have to do much else other than planning and checking. Which is what I should be doing instead of writing.
Roommates=
Erin just flipped out because there's a bug in her room. Jenni is doing laundry here and they were both taking fotos of fake Fendi and Louis Vuiotton (sp?) bags to sell on eBay. Thill is gone. His idea of roommate bonding time lasted until Amy (his ladyfriend) called him over to her house. I am not on his computer, for mine has a virus. I might be needing a new one.
The DEN=
Went out last night. Schroeder (who hasn't hung out in forever), Haas (who recently returned to Chucktown), Erin, Jenni, Meinheit (who used to be the EIC) and several others went to Megan's (who lives with 3 Lambda Chi guys) for a fatty Lambda Chi party then we went to Hatter's, and LaBamba's (yuck) and saw plenty of other DENer's there. Never a sober night with these guys. When we left we came back here (Jenni, Erin and I) and snacked on White Castle microwaved cheesburgers, Fridays' bacon cheddar potato wedges, Cheez-Its (yes, Diane) and HALLOWEEN OREOS (again, shut yo mouf). Then BrainO'Malley came down because it's not a sleepover till BO'Malley arrives.
That, that's pretty much everything. That will make up for smaller posts I leave during the week that don't make sense. Enjoy.

"Keep Pushin On"
Laura~ Thanks dood, yes that is a good song to listen to. I've been listening to REO nonstop today... esp this song:
Keep Pushin
I used to be lonely till I learned about livin alone
I found other things to keep my mind on
And I'm gettin to know myself a little bit better
Whoa , I keep pushin on
Keep pushin on, yeah
Goin through all the changes I made so many mistakes, oh yes I did
Tryin to leave behind the heartaches
And sometimes I think I was a little bit crazy, oh yeah
Whoa, I keep pushin on
Keep pushin, keep pushin, keep pushin, keep pushin on
Keep pushin, keep pushin, you know you have got to be so strong
Keep pushin, keep pushin, well even if you think your strength is gone
Keep pushin on
(solo)
Well it's comin together I finally feel like a man, oh yes I do
I never thought that I'd be where I am, oh
Everyday I wake a little bit higher
Whoa I keep pushin on, oh yeah
(repeat chorus)
Well minus the feel like a man part... substitute woman there.. hehe...
Its kinda sad, I can't stop thinking about him, and what he is doing right at this very moment, and if he is thinking about me.... Blah! I'm glad I'm gettin outta my house tonight for sorority stuff, good luck w/urs Laura, mine starts tomorrow, and I'm kinda nervous about talking to all the different girls and hopeing to make a good impression for DPHIE.
Who's dog? Where is Matt from and where does he live now? Sorry I'm tryin to catch up on this blog thing... Well I better go read for my test on thursday cuz I'm not gonna have that much time this week...

"I will survive"
I used to sing that song and think about ex boyfriends. Once I had it up as an away message and Andy got mad because it was kind of hurtful.
"I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you."
Main point-----> Emily,
I'm sorry to hear the news, but I'm glad you're dealing well. I don't think Curtis is gay. I don't know him well or anything but he sounds more metro than anything.
But I am really happy you're dealing well. Chin up lady, you'll find someone great. Just be glad you found out that he wasn't so special now and not years from now or even months from now as things progressed even further. And you learn something new from every experience like this that you have. It may suck, but it makes you a better person in the long run, and don't you forget it.
Feel better, if you need to call anyone hit me up. If I don't answer my phone I'll call you back as soon as I can (rush is still happening). My computer has a virus so I only have the internet in the DEN.
This weekend.
Rush is a blast. It gets a little annoying talking to so many damn people (So far I met 14 girls 1st round, 4 second round and tonight is pref night. We're supposed to get someone we already know but we'll see.) And it gets louder than hell in that room with 60 girls talking to about 40 PMs (potential members).
Matt's visit Wednesday and Thursday.
The dog pissed me off like all hell until about Thursday night. He sheds everywhere and slobbers everywhere. And barks like crazy. I want to dropkick him over a bridge every so often. Also, he's really needy and cuts down on me and Matt time, when we have to baby him. Spoiled. Ugh.
Anyway the me and Matt thing is still going on. We both still want something to really happen (meaning a real relationship) but we are still working on getting over the wierdness of his ex girlfriend being a friend.... he's getting over her still for the most part, I'm getting over the fact that they were together and now theyre not, and we are trying to get used to being more than friends. Sometimes its awkward. But we're working on it. Between that and the distance it's hard, but I'm willing to do most anything really. And so is he.
He's so pretty. And sweet. And just what I need.
Alright, well, I gotta get outta here, shower, do myself up, get into my black pref night dress and head over to the house. Have a good day everyone.

Weekend gone sour....
Well, right now I'm suppose to be at a wedding, curtis' twin sister's wedding that is. But I am not, because I ended our relationship last night. So in doing so he drove me back home round 1 in the morning from Carrollton. I was really depressed last night, esp since I drank, but now I'm much better. When you meet someone's whole family and some friends, you really see that person for what they are, and he was an ass needless to say. I'm kinda sad things didn't work out, but its for the better. I'm gettin kinda good at this whole breaking up thing and coping with it, I guess I just wasn't 'in love' as I thought I was. Well "I guess this is growing up".
I talked to my mom today for about an hour after I woke up, I don't ever talk to my mom. Very strange. Anywho, she thinks Curtis is gay/bi/or bi curious. Which now, after someone has planted that idea in my brain, its like opening a new door, and I now see those things. So I'm kinda curious if he really is or not. I know that is horrible to say about someone, but now its kinda obvious. Here is a list (and sorry if I am stereotyping gay men) :
1) He really enjoys shopping (like really!)
2) He buys most of his clothes from a) Express for Men b) Banana Republic c) The Gap
3) He is really, really, really like a girl when he shops ex: He has me go find him different sizes while he looks at different clothes, nothing looks good on him, and my favorite "no, you can't go look at clothes cuz I need u to tell me if it looks good, matches, and if you like it" Going shopping w/your boyfriend is suppose to be fun, I HATED IT (& u guys know how much I like shopping), I felt like the man in the relationship who dreds shopping with his girlfriend
4) He was overly excited about Bessingers (candy place at Galaria (sp?)) having chocolate covered blackberries (which they only have in a seasonal thing, which he knew about, & they are like $35 a pound)
5) He told me once he loves candles, and candle light, and he told me that in his old house he had candles everywhere, and he'd rather go by candle light than a light bulb
6) He totally set this dinner up to take my dad out for retirement and my godfather since he got me money for my car accident. It was at a place called Morton's in Clayton, we went there once before and he knows the manager. When we went there before we had a couple of drinks at the bar and the manager brought us 2 apps, which we didn't order (kinda strange) BUT we got the bill and it was like over $50, and the manager told us not to worry about it, it was on the house. Well, Curtis told me before that he did some work from him (i'm assuming on the internet since that is what he does) so I didn't think too much about it, but still even stranger. Also, Curtis told me that we could go there sometime and dinner would also be on the house. OK, so we arranged for the six of us to eat dinner there one night, the manager told us to bring our own wine with dinner so we didn't have to pay their overpriced bill. strange. so we did. We went and ate a ton of expensive fancy food, and we had like a butt ton of waiters and the manager waiting on us, it was freakin crzy, I've been to really nice resturants, some nicer than that, and have NEVER EVER had that happen before. They even brought us doubles of some stuff we ordered. So, we never even got the bill and we were gonna leave a tip, Curtis went and asked the manager how much the bill would have been so we could leave a tip, supposedly the dinner was over $500!! That is really freakin weird and strange at the same time...... So I wonder what he "really" did for this guy ( he seemed kinda like he had the hots for curtis) since curtis wont tell me exactly why we had this nice fancy dinner FOR FREE!
7) When we first went and ate dinner with my parents he ordered a glass of (bear with me, don't know how to spell it) Chardonay, which is a white wine that women normally order.
8) When we went to NC he brought 'wet wipes' because he said when we eat dorritos in the car we will have something to wipe our hands on, he said he thinks of these things cuz he has a daughter (well, i'm not his daughter and he is a man..... a 'normal' guy would probably lick his fingers, wipe it on a pant leg... hell thats what I do... back for the bottom of the pant leg, right Cory?)
9) He loves 80s music.... like really loves...... and he kinda dances kinda gay in the car when he hears an 80s song he really likes
10) he plucks his eyebrows.... i don't think he'd have a unibrow... but that is where he 'plucks'
11) He didn't even try to get me to stay in Carrollton, or change my mind about breaking up with him ( i don't really think that makes him gay, but damn, if u love me as much as u say you do, then after our first fight, u'd try to make up, or make things better not drive me home after u've been drinking from Carrollton @ 1am
12) He'd have me open his cans of beer, isn't it suppose to be the other way around? He said he didn't have fingernails to get under the tab and it hurt his fingers
13) He can dress... man can he dress....
.... more later ....... tell me what you guys think .......

Labor Day Schmabor Day
This weekend I went home. I relaxitated Friday night until I played a little sand volleyball with Dan and hung out with his APO friends in Edwardsville. So much for not driving much and saving gas.
Saturday I went to church with the parents, sat at DQ, came home, rented Pretty in Pink, went across the river for gas to drive home, and that's about it.
Sunday we (mom, dad, me) attempted to hit up the St. Louis Zoo, except it was hot so we gave up after not too long and went to the Landing. We had a beer at Morgan Street then at Trainwreck. It was fun.
Then I took an hour nap, watched Forrest Gump and came back to EIU. All in all I guess it was a good weekend. But I'm back to Verging it out, and kicking it on 12th Street.
I feel bad sometimes when Matt calls and I have other things going on. I really would like to just stop it all just to talk to him for a half hour, but that can't always be done. He's coming down Thursday- great example- he'll get here around 11, I have class from 12:30- 3:15, I MIGHT get to hang out with him for a little bit then sorority stuff probably starts around 5:30 (rush) and lasts till 9:30 or so. Then we can chill out and watch a movie before he leaves Friday to go home for a bachelor party. It's okay though, I'm happy as long as I can see him for that period of time. While I'm at class and ASA, he will be having lunch with the president of the university, Lou Hencken (Matt is a very important person. People know him. He has many leather bound books and his apartment smells of rich mahogany)... and then he'll be hanging out with Stephen Haas- who is back in Charelston this week!! YAY THE STEPHEN!
K me and Erin Miller have homework to be doing. Look Rachelowe, another person is called by their first and last name. But its because the other Aaron is a boy, and it's still 2 words. Rachelowe.

Come and knock on our door....
Check it out, this is what my roommate wrote about me and Erin (the girl roomies) for the Verge tomorrow. It already went to print, but it's not online yet and I'm impatient.

Sometimes I feel like John Ritter. No, no, not dead. I feel like him in the aspect that I am trying to grapple with the fact that I live with two girls. And it is strange, to be sure.
I grew up in a house with three generations of women, my mother, sister and niece. That being said, living with women is not completely unfamiliar to me. However, living with two girls in their early 20’s is like being spun around in circles and made to walk a line: confusing, disorienting and even a bit nauseating.
I would like to think of myself as a fairly enlightened individual, but nothing on this Earth can prepare a young man for the first time he walks into the bathroom to take a nice, innocent shower and finds panties on the floor, hair in the drain and, Lord help me, female hygienic devices waiting for him next to the toilet.
And I can only dread what it will be like once the two of them begin to menstruate in unison. I can see it now—I will walk through the door and a sudden shiver runs up my spine. Then I realize that I left the toilet seat up and prepare for the scolding that will ensue. And might I add, if you fail to do the dishes and you live with two women, they will let you hear about it at great length every time they get the chance.
But it isn’t all bad. It’s merely a learning experience. Being a young man living with young women is just a bit of sexual culture shock. You can’t get away with the same jokes as you can with a male roommate, expelling gas for entertainment purposes loses a bit in translation to women and walking around in your boxers is a bit unnerving at first.
It could always be much worse. I could be in their shoes having to put up with me.

DIANE
DUDE. YOU SHOULD a-go to Fright Fest with us this year whenever that happens. AND b- come visit for homecoming!! don't you miss college? tons of frat/DEN parties to go to!

Those are some great New York boobs
Ok well I feel a little bit better about things today. I know I'm making the best possible decision for myself right now. Mike and I are going to stay together then hopefully once he graduates in December he might be moving up to be with me. We only talked about it a little bit. You guys are probably like omg thats crazy but y'all don't understand. I love him sooo much. I've never felt this way about anyone. I'll put it like this, y'all know how when I get into a relationship I'm like "No kids. No marriage. No nothing," I don't feel that way with him. I can actually see myself having a future with all the stuff in it. We are really good together. I can trust him to go out without me. We actually spend time apart instead of being attached to the hip. If we get into an arguement and get mad at each other we just look at each other and make one another smile. Whatever we were mad about doesn't matter. I don't think there is anyone more perfect for me. Well thats it. I was going to try to come home in a week or two but can't b/c Angie and Chris are going home at the end of sept so I have to watch the dogs. So I'll be returning to A-town the first or second week of October. Just in time for Halloween!

Mama I'm coming home...
Diane, I am so sorry to hear things aren't the best for you right now. Think about it this way. You don't have to be in Alton for the rest of your life. You can go home and save up some cash to get out. You're only 21. And you'll be great in whatever you end up doing.
What I DON'T wanna be is like April and Matt... because it's taking them forever to get used to living in crazy places all types of alone and wishing they were back in college. Come the end of the fall semester, I'm making JR help me get a job opportunity near home. So I can live there and make some money then move away.
The Verge #2 is in progress.
I'm coming home this weekend! I don't know when other than that I will get a chance to. It's going to be a busy year. I think I'll come home once more this semester for Fright Fest, and other than that- for the rest of the year- I'm only coming home for holidays.
I love Eastern and I'll miss it when it's gone. And so I'm making the best of it now.
MUY IMPORTANTE:
My roommate wrote a column about living with chicks- and it's HILARIOUS. ON FRIDAY--- check www.thedailyeasternnews.com (link on the side of this blog page) for

Megan wrote the same column only about living with guys. It is kinda sweet- but Thill's was funny. K gtg!

This is the song that doesn't end
Well last night I had a horrible night. Angie and Chris sat me down and wanted to know my plans and goals. They didn't come right out and say they wanted me to move out but thats basically what I took it as. So I started trying to figured out what I wanted to do the most. #1-Travel around the world, but since I'm not rich as hell and can just do stuff like that #2-Go back to school. I thought about going back to school here but I didn't get my stuff in on time. So I was working at an apt this past few months but still don't have enough money for that. So I figured in my best interest and even though its not exactly what I want to do, b/c I can't stay for Mike/friends (even though I love him dearly and is the best person I have). IT LOOKS LIKE I'LL BE MOVING HOME. I don't know if I really want that since everytime I say it, it makes me ball, but there is nothing else I can do. I can't stay here and afford an apt/car and go to school. At least if I go home I can save up my money and have all those things. It just sucks b/c I'll be losing one of the most important things in my life to get all this. And althought its not worth it. Its in my best interest. Another thing that I'm not too thrilled about...everytime something goes wrong I pack up and move away. I don't want that to happen for the rest of my life. I'm also afraid of staying in Alton for the rest of my life. I mean I love it to death but thats not where I want to be or raise a family if that should ever happen. Well I guess thats it. If I end up moving home and it basically a 95% chance I am it will be in about 2 weeks.

Milk was a bad choice....
STILL sitting in the newsroom. I'm waiting for my roommate's ass to get done night chiefing (sending pages to press) so I don't have to walk home alone.
Sometimes wierd things happen in the newsroom.
Renick was just talking about getting a hair trim. That's not the wierd part, the wierd part is why.
"Obi-Wan Kenobi's hair isn't this long."
(What he's going to be for Halloween.)
Awesome. (:))
SO- coming home this weekend I think. I can't imagine there's a whole lot going on, and I don't know when the next time I'm going to get to go home is going to be.
BUSY BUSY BUSY BUSY BUSY BUSY BUSY BUSY BUSY BUSY BUSY BUSY
Anyway- I need to at least enter these short things every so often but I am a slacker. Tonight I came into the newsroom and wrote probably the gayest 1 scene from the gayest play I'm sure anyone has EVER WRITTEN. AND I made a list of random PR blogs I didn't even glance at.
The Verge is going to be totally busy for BO'Malley next week. I want to make sure that he has everything easy, because otherwise it might suck (FOR HIM). And tomorrow I have shittons of things to do... UGH. I gotta do homework, write a story about food allergies, eat Thomas dining and critique it, make it to class and go to sorority recruitment practice at 5, then come back to the newsroom for some sweet Verge designing.

I f***ing rock my own socks off.
I'm not actually that in love with myself.
Verge is smack dab on the middle of the "Best of Week" board this week. You all should be proud. Also, I'm somewhat kinda dating someone. The reason I say this is we are taking it slow. But he's pretty much the sexiest and nicest person ever. Whatever happens,
WISH ME LUCK!
Kbye.

Who wants to be a Vergian??
Hey kids I was in the newsroom till 1 a.m. preparing for the first issue of my "On the Verge" entertainment/lifestyles insert in the DEN that runs Friday. It turned out nicely especially for a first issue. It has plenty of room for improvement but you can get the gist of it really.
If you all check the DEN web site on Friday, the stories will be posted, so you should check some out. Although I wish you guys could see the printed version, which I guarantee looks more fulfilling at least.

Enjoy!@

Hi Ho.... I'm already at work
Hey all, the first issue is running a little behind but looking to come together nicely as long as we have sufficient time tomorrow.
Check my myspace and you'll see who I made out with. Is that who you thought Emily? Things seem to be progressing well although I've decided, with some friendly prodding, to try and stop freaking analyzing everything and just go with the flow. If nothing happens as long as he didn't use me as a rebound (which I'd hope as my friend he wouldn't lie to me about) then we'll remain friends. Either way, he's something else, for sure.
Diane, I'm glad you are enjoying the massage therapy! Congrats lady!
I know Thomas, I'm going to make it a point to discuss things that lead somewhere more interesting than what happened this weekend. Although from our talks lately the weekend can sometimes be VERY interesting. APRIL MIGHT COME VISIT ME SATURDAY! YAYYYYYY!
We're going to see Red Eye tonight. Fun, fun. It'll be only the second time in my Eastern Career I've been to the movies with friends. Third if you count when I saw Deuce Bigalow 2 by myself here the first weekend. It was fulfilling.
P.S. I saw 40 Yr Old Virgin this weekend in and it was fricking hilarious. especially the ending, which is totally what you'd expect played out in a manner that shocks the viewer and leaves hardly any seat dry. Other words- its funny. Cory. Go see it!!

My massages are going great!!! I've made a ton of money in the past two days. My highest tip so far was $30! Also, JLo was staying at the hotel I massaged at on Saturday b/c Mark Anthony had a concert here that night. I didn't get to see here but another therapist did. Not that it matters...I don't like JLo anyway but if I did see here I would have ran up and smacked her big dimply ass!
GO SEE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN!!! ITS SOOOOOOOOO FUNNY!!!

Howdy all. Sounds like you had a blast last night diane. I'm sure you'll do fine with your massages today.
Last night Rachelowe and myself watched the machinist, it was a different type of movie for sure.
So far today I went and played hockey in fairview and went tanning. What an exciting day I know. Well I guess I better do something productive before school starts and I really have no time to do anything. So I guess I'm off to clean and do some much needed laundry.

After Murphy catching many oposseums he finally got sprayed by a skunk. My sister and I just got done giving the dogs a bath at 1 in the morning! The smell is starting to leave the house finally! I'm hella tired. I had to work at Aero tonight and I have four massages tomorrow!!! Wish me luck I've never giving four massage all in a row. I'll be making bank though! Goodnight all.

Friday night and nothing to do...........
Well for the first time in a long time I'm at home at 7:30 on a friday with no plans. So what do I do? I post a blog, cuz I'm that lame. I'm sad everyone went back to school, and all my school friends are busy unpacking and setting up their new homes, and Curtis has his daughter this weekend, which leaves me, by myself w/nothing to do. No offense towards people who still live here, I tried callin my friend Melissa, who is @ gordon Moore watchin the men's state tourny, which I totally would go watch, but I only know melissa and she will be w/her boyfriend. And my head boss will be out there shortly, awkward moments at its finest, seeing is how I didn't go to work today, because of my massive dentist appt. Then I tried callin rachelowe, who didn't answer her phone. I also tried calling megan, who didn't answer her phone either.
Soooo, I guess I will get ready and go to men's state and look like an ass around my head boss, cuz I have nothing else better to do.

Didn't mean to argue
I'm sorry for arguing Thomas, I don't want to fight about it but I analyze things and have to explain them to even get them straight in my own head- u know how I am- so I apologize in advance...
I don't mean it absolutely wasn't her fault, and I'm not saying YOU'RE blaming anyone, but people are blaming one or the other and it's the biggest part of the whole thing I can't get out of my head. It was a tragedy and I'm sorry for both sides, especially Drew's, in my opinion.
Two days after he died, I went to www.thetelegraph.com to read the article comments by people in the community (which are currently not posted anymore), and instead of your basic "so sorry for the untimely and tragic death of your son" I read comments like, "he was drinking underage and driving so it was his fault" and to his mom- "how could you even let your son drink alcohol? it must have been your fault" which is OUTRAGEOUS and completely HORRIBLE and INSENSITIVE to a poor nice woman who lost her son days earlier and disrespectful toward good kid who lost his life... but then also comments in reciprocation to that about how "she was on drugs and ran a stop sign and it was her fault," when really, both kids made stupid mistakes and both are paying for it in different ways. I was outraged that people would even THINK about posting these horrible things when they should have been comments of sympathy. I can't believe some people sometimes.
You have good points, but the fact that both made their mistakes at the same time and collided is what killed him, not him speeding down Alby with however much alcohol in his system (which nearly everyone has done once or twice at least in their lifetimes), or her running a stop sign with drugs in her system. Because I hardly ever go 30 on that street, I had plenty of beers in me before I drove to mom's last night, and I remember when Andy used to drive home from my house at 2 a.m. or later never stopping at a single stop sign because he seemed to be the only driver on the road. He's lucky he was right, but she was wrong if that's what she thought, and she is paying for it. Plus, that intersection is dangerous anyway cuz it's hard to see, especially at night (trust the person who STILL drives around for fun!)
I'm sorry I really don't want to analyze this to death but like I said I have been thinking about it a lot. And I'm really sad for his family- and like I said although I didn't know him personally, I went to school with him for about 6 years, and he was almost always in James' class. It's such a shame for such a young kid.

In reference to Drew...
Yeah I did not know him personally but I remember him as a kid playing basketball with my brother, before James went all rock n' roll or whatever you call it. My mom works for his mom, and they were friends. It's been rough. I had it stuck in my head too, for the longest time. There is a song that reminds me of that whole incident, I don't know why..... but it's "Listen to Your Heart" by DHT... I know, lame. I wrote a blog about in in my xanga.... go there and check it out!! I don't think it's fair though to blame the other girl. People always speed on Alby, and Drew was drinking, and yes, the girl had drugs in her system and apparently ran a stopsign- I don't think it's fair to point blame, and it really doesn't make any sense, because it won't bring Drew back. And on both sides it's sad. Drew is gone and never even got to 21, and I heard the girl- I think her name was Sarah- is paralyzed or she got her legs amputated or something. Who knows? Also, she'll never forget that night and the fact that someone died. And that's pretty horrible in itself, you know?
It seems like tragedy is everywhere and it sucks. Sorry to hear about Chris, Rachelowe. I feel yah.
Speaking of tragedy, we have a speaker coming in, after this- NO MORE DEN TRAINING! Someone has already quit this semester- school hasn't even started.

I <3 bean burritos
Is it me or when you read these things do you picture the person and hear their voice as if they are actually talking to you? B/c it seems we write the way we would say it if we were in front of each other.
You're silly
Well, work is underway at the DEN..... but as I am breaking, I continue the online notebook. Check it!
I donno Thomas, what?
So I found out my posting DID work. I wanna hear the rest of that joke Thomas!
I'm sitting in the DEN waiting for another planning meeting to start. Today we discuss final changes for Verge and I can figure out what stories will go where and who's writing them this week. The earlier we figure it out, the better the result.
Last night we all went out. I sat around watching Friends with Thill (my male roommate) and drinking boxed wine, individual-sized. Then we went to Hillary's (Matt's ex) and drank more. More newsroom people came over and I had a lot of fun. Later we went to the PP. Erin (female roommate) got WASTED. I made my peace with Woike I think. I calmly asked him why he lied and he calmly told me he didn't. I believe him, call me gullible. But it verified my suspiscions that it WAS more than just hooking up for awhile, but like he gets bored of a lot of things- I became old hat. I'm fine with that, since it's what I expected. As long as the whole thing wasn't a lie. And then we joked about it and hugged and I made sure we're cool. As long as I got that out of my system and didn't make an enemy, a weight from the end of the year has been lifted. And a lot of awkwardness has been avoided... since he lives five houses down.
I walked Erin's drunk ass home and talked to Williams the entire way (I'm becoming smitten... scary I know). Then I went to Woike's house (Aaron and BO'Malley also live there) to watch Zoolander with BO'Malley. And then Aaron came home, I fixed myself some toast, met Thill's friend Maddie, who by the way goes to SIUC (Cory you should meet her, she's fun)... and went to sleep.
Fun night! I MISS YOU GUYS!!!!!

Welcome to Charleston, me
Hey Emily, that's a pretty exciting float trip it sounds like. I'm glad you had a lot of fun. SO- I guess Emily's off the market once again. Congrats, lady... I need to find me one of those.
Cory- are you excited to go back to school??
Diane, I finally went to your house and switched out the 21st b-day presents. I love mine! It's hanging in my room at the present moment, waiting to be filled with pictures I need to look around for. Also, I love the necklaces. Man, you spoil me. You pretty much always have though. Thanks so much! Yours isn't much but I hope you like it. Your mom should be sending it with your cookbooks. If I'd known that I would have mailed it myself!! Hehe.
Thomas, I don't have the internet yet so I'm sorry I haven't continued the notebook. I'm in the newsroom today when I don't need to be to catch up on weekend blogging.
As for me...
I moved into my house on Saturday. Got all set up by Sunday. My parents left Sunday as well. It rained like a bitch this weekend. The house is pretty sweet! I can't wait for people to see it! By the way, the address is:
1718 A 12th St.
Charleston, Ill.
61920
Be sure to put that down somewhere.
The house is great by regular standards, but especially for college students. It looks almost new, and the rent is only $265 a month. Not including all the extras, which we don't have set up yet. Last night we went to Roc's and had a drink, me and my roommate Erin and 2 other newsroom girls, and then some ppl came over. I found wine in a box, mini sized- 3 glasses worth, handheld. Also, we found out approximately how many ppl could actually be inside our house. It's not that big, just nice.
I am going to visit Matt this weekend. I am excited!! I might go Friday and then just keep myself busy at his apt while he's at work on Saturday for a little bit. I saw his ex last night. She didn't want to come over until she was wasted because I was good friends with Matt and she thought I'd be mad at her for what she did. It was ok though, I don't take sides. Or I try not to, but I can't help but feel bad for him, and well she's not bad off. We'll see if he'd better and if anything happens, and I'll keep you updated. Don't get too excited though, that's when nothing happens.

Floating
Well, just got back from my float today. It was pretty awesome, even though it rained all weekend. I went with my boyfriend, thats right, I accepted the fact that we were pretty much boyfriend/girlfriend last week, his dad, his dad's girlfriend, and another couple.
Friday night was pretty crazy, because it didn't rain and we all played drinking games for hours. Then me, Curtis and his dad had a huge beer fight, yes I know waste of beer, but it was awesome. Then we packed a mini cooler and went party hoppin, which ended with just me and curtis walkin around with a bunch of dudes. Which was cool, they were all really cool and they kept tellin curtis that I was a cool chick and he better keep me, cuz I was like the only girl that wasn't passed out and I was tryin to help them find chicks. One guy had a camel back that had some kind of mixed drink which was mmmhhhmmmm so good, and he kept lettin me drink, just cuz i was the only chick.
Saturday we floated which ended once again just bein me and curtis. This happened when we left his dad and the other chick with a huge group of people, just cuz they were makin an ass of themselves (they we drunk at 9 that morning before we even went floating). Then the other two were really slow and we ended up loosing them too. It poured the last 1/4 of the float and they had to pull us off the river 5 miles short of our pickup. So we were back at the camp site around 5, and his dad didn't make it back till dark, they were like the last ones off the river. Supposedly they both passed out in their canoe, woke up so drunk that his dad threw the oars out of the boat cuz he said they didn't need them anymore cuz they weren't helping. So thats what took them so long. His dad cracks me up,,,, be he is a straight alcoholic.
Then today I slept all the way home and have had 2 naps since then. We were suppose to go see the new deuce movie but we slept through it. I'm not sure he would go to the 9pm show since curtis starts his new job tomorrow. Well I better go.... bbbbyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Be sure to drink your ovaltine
I started my massage job with DASA Wednesday. I had a 3 hour walk thru of the hotels I would be massaging at. I think there are like 5 or 6. One is really really really really nice. The sucky part is I'm on call for a while until I prove that I'll be staying. Basically I just have to be ready to give a massage when they call me. Another sucky thing is downtown is like 20-25 mins and driving the Jeep it totally sucks a ton of gas. I was talking with one of the managers and he said in mid-late sept. thru mid jan. it slows down b/c of the holiday season. So I'm going to work 9-3 5 days a week at DASA and work 5-close 6 days a week at AERO. It shouldn't be too bad b/c I won't have a full day of massages and AERO won't work me all 6 days I'm available. I only had 1 massage yesterday but believe me I got paid pretty good for doing a 50 min massage.
Mikes bday was yesterday and we both had to work so Wednesday night we went to Dave and Busters with a few of his friends then last night went to Olive Garden to eat. When we got back home I had a cake waiting for him with 22 candles in it. Let me tell you trying to light 22 candles by yourself is really hard. On top of that I put in magic candles and they started to go off like sparklers! I almost burned the house down! There was a ton of smoke everywhere but luckily the smoke detectors didn't go off. So that didn't go as well as I planned.
I'm going to change my hair again too sometime. All I'm going to say is its going to be soooo bad ass!!!

Rubberband man
Tax free weekend is over and I couldn't be happier! Every second was hell. Aero was packed full with people messing EVERYTHING up. Yesterday was the worst day of the whole weekend. I got in a couple of arguements with people that can't read signs or they try to negotiate prices. I'm like ok yeah I'll give you this shirt for $5 so I can get fired! That sounds like a great idea. Then I had some lady tell me I was the ruddest bitch she's ever seen. I said thank you have a great day. I wasn't being a bitch but I wasn't being overly nice either. I mean come on, I worked more than time then I had off this weekend. I wasn't putting up with anyones crap.
Wednesday I have my walk thru with DASA (the massage place). Then hopefully I'll start work on Thursday and get out of Aero soon! Mike started with National Tire and Battery today. Now I can get a discount on big tires for the Jeep!!! (Be jealous Cory...be very jealous)

Hypocrite
so i guess i cant bitch at everyone for not blogging often. i havent in awhile. im getting ready to watch zoolander with my dad. i didnt feel like going out because im becoming poorer and gaining every pound i lost over the summer. hey- i guess there is more to life than being really really goodlooking. it wasnt too significant, but i did feel better. and now, its going to hell. plus its been crazy and i could use a rest, and catch up on my internet dealings. my parents need to get with it and get cable internet.
in the past several days, we dealt with a schizo steak n' shake dude, we told ghost stories and camped in my living room. (yes, three 21 yr olds, one 22 yr old). yesterday i sat really close at the cards/braves game which we lost, waited for rachelowe to get some autographs, played whiffleball, saw kevin on his last day of being an illegal drinker, and watched broken lizard movies at cory's. i fell asleep and then came home and slept approx. 12 hours. niiiiiice.
that is all.

Reading a novel....
WELL. Bout damn time I get done catching up on reading this dang thing! I'm still at work, on my break, wishing it was 5pm so I can go home. I'm meeting megan @ my house @ 5:30 we are gonna go walk @ the park, hockey season is coming up and I need to get rid of this beer keg on my stomach. Then I'm going to eat dinner w/ Curtis, he's pickin me up @ 7pm. Those are my plans for this evening. Tomorrow, yes, I will def. play some wiffleball, cuz it rocks my socks. My bro wont be there Rachelowe, cuz he is going on his fraternity float trip, which I turned down cuz I need to loose some drinking poundage.
In other news, I'm still dating the two guys, Curtis and Marc. The verdict is still out on that one. We'll see what happens.

Ms. BloweChunks...
Laura is home so that means that you have to get your eyebrows waxed!!! So y'all need to get that done. Don't wuss out on me either! You said you totally would.
In other news, I start my massage job on Monday. One of the owners is giving me and another guy a walk thru of all the hotels. He said it should take 3 hrs or so, but after that I'll start working for them. Yay!!!
Tax free weekend starts tomorrow at Aero so I'll be very pissy from dealing with "fuck heads" all day.
Thats all I've got. xoxo

It's 1:40 in the a.m. and the Jack in the Box lines are open!
My last night in Rock Island my parents and I ate at Hungry Hobo and hot Whitey's. Then they did their own thing and I attended a small gathering for the interns. We went to Brian's apt. and drank some and watched the Daily Show Indecision 2004 (democratic nat'l convention coverage- hilarious), then went to a martini bar downstairs called Copia. Long story short- I got drunk for free, danced to the YMCA and made a fool of myself, rode home with Aaron and went to sleep. My dad thought something was up so he was worried and couldn't sleep. But it was a good last night.
So, I got home from my internship for the summer and the first person I see is Caleb. We go to Wood River Walmart to turn in my photos, which he says he's never been to the Wood River one. I guess since he lives in Jerseyville... but anyways. SO we plan to go to the block party and everything but we know it's sucked in the past so we go ahead and have an alternative plan- a white trash scavenger hunt. Here are the things we were looking for:
*woman with 2 colored mullet- saw 2 women with 2 different colored mullets
*man with ripped sleeves- CHECK CHECK CHECK
*a wigger with a hot chick
*old couple making out- CHECK
*Looney Tunes t-shirt- CHECK
*pregnant person drinking
*person missing at least 2 teeth
*diabled person getting wasted- CHECK
*person with pets- CHECK
*shitty band playing in the middle- CHECK
We did well. We looked for them as we walked around with our Hit N Run "sodas" (arrrrr Captain Morgan)
We went to Jack in the Box around 1:30ish- and dude starts talking over the speaker like he's a radio announcer, ending with "It's 1:40 in the a.m. and the Jack in the Box lines are open!!!"
We stared at the box and tried to keep from laughing too hard and we ordered 6 tacos. When we got to the window I paid the guy and Caleb told him that made his day. So he tells us he graduated from Alton High and can't count.... we ended up with 8 tacos instead of 6.
Went back to my house and ate them, watched some Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers till 4 a.m. then he went home. The wierdest shit always happens when we are together. It was fun!
Tonight I'm staying in after 2 nights of drinking and bars. I'm watching Little Big Man with my dad. Memories....

Leaving
1 hour to go, my editor tells me if I have family waiting I can leave an hour early and he won't tell anyone ;)
My parents arrived arounf 2:30 p.m. and have been sitting in my dorm since. Leaving for the last time is always wierd. Don't know what to say, do I leave quietly or announce that I'm going? Who even knows. Besides, I guess I'll see everyone at Brian's tonight.
ByeBye Argus...

We posted at almost the same time....
Wow.
Diane, I hope you didn't think I was being critical or anything. Just trying to make lite of a situation I know would piss me off too.
and it's weird we posted like one minute apart.

Excuse me, I believe you have my stapler...
Don't get me wrong. I know I don't know everything or even half of the stuff about massage therapy but it pissed me off that I had a secretary telling me this. Another massage therapist saying it would have been fine, but when I've been on other massage interviews they've always said I need to apply more pressure. Its going to be different every where I go and different places expect different things, but I don't think this lady knows what shes talking about...she types all day.
The Quad Cities vs STL Metro Area (home)
Hey a long time ago I planned to post this as a way to cure my boredom. But also, even though I'm not a big numbers lady, it gives me pleasure to try and put these in perspective.
Just, take a look.
thank census.gov for this by the way...
I took the following areas:
Alton 29,774
Godfrey 16,974
East Alton 6,680
Edwardsville 23,953
Bethalto 9,670
Jerseyville 8,068
Wood River 11,085
All the main towns around home. I added the populations to get a random population over milage number. A total of 106,204 ppl, unless my calculator sucks. This gives an average area population of 15,172, a little smaller than Godfrey.
Besides Alton/Godfrey/E. Alton, that run together, the surrounding towns are kinda spread out. To the closest big city, STL of course (343,279), Jerseyville is the farthest away at 43.5 miles away.
I probably should have included Brighton, but get over it- also I excluded smaller towns like Rosewood Heights, Fosterburg and Cottage Hills (and the like).
Then I took the Quad Cities:
Rock Island 38,807
Moline 42,927
Bettendorf, IA 31,615
Davenport,IA 98,355
E. Moline 21,114
Silvis 7,423
Total pop: 240,241 (nearly the size of STL altogether)
Pop. average: 40,040
I also left out little cities surrounding these. The difference is that there are NO smaller towns in between these listed, only surrounding them. Each town runs directly into one another. If u start in Bettendorf (which also touches Moline), u can head west to Davenport, then south to Rock Island, then East to Moline, keep going East into E. Moline and then Silvis.
Technically its a more populated area, and closer together.... which makes for a pretty big area, the entirety of which tends to remind me a bit of home although the size differences. The closest big city is IN the area, although it is 3 times smaller than STL, Davenport. From one the two farthest ends of the area, on a map (silvis to davenport) is only 16 miles. Roughly the distance from where Alton turns into Godfrey to Jerseyville.
The QC has 3 casinos on the Mississippi River. It is the covergence (like Alton with the Illinois and Mississippi) of the Rock and Mississippi Rivers. There are many similarities.
Alright, enough nerdy useless info :)

Quarter Life Crisis
This is something that was sent to me in a forward. I actually read this one, maybe you should too.
Growing 20's
They call it the "Quarter-life Crisis." It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are many things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like. You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now.
You start realizing that people are selfish and that,
>maybe, those friends

>the greatest people
> >you have ever met, and the, people you have lost
>touch with are some of

The Whiffle
haha I love when Rachelowe tries to sound ghetto and then she giggles afterward. Makes me feel like I was right there hearing it. Yeah Thomas what Rachelowe said is the best for me.
And Diane, congrats on the interview---- professionals are supposed to be critical. If they're not, you can never improve. (I see your point with the secretary thing BTW) But just take it as they're trying to help you become the BEST u can be. I know that's what u want isn't it? Sounds like you're well on yur way.
My editor is taking us to lunch now. GTG...

Are you trying to molest me via drive thru?
Sorry I haven't felt like writing lately
So my second job interview went ok. I had to massage their secretary. She was all like ok approach me like I was a client. So I did that. I told her how the massage would work blah blah blah. So I'm massaging her and she like ok well you didn't play the music or dim the lights. I was like lady I don't know how anything works in this room. She expected me to walk in like I knew how the room was setup and everything. Then she told me for a swedish massage I was using too much pressure. Which is bull shit b/c all though school my instuctors told me to use more pressure. There were some other things that she did that I wanted to smack her for. I mean come on how would she know anything about massage. Shes only a secretary and I went to the best massage school in texas! Anyway then another lady finished up my interview and she told me that they would start me off part time since I'm so new at it and in 2 or 3 months move me into full time, but she was going to call me next week. So thats what I'm waiting on.

Mike and I went to see The Honorary Title last night. There were soooo awesome. We went to this venue, Emo's, in Austin to see them. It was a close and intimate setting which made it that much better b/c the two guys in the band are sexy especially the lead singer. The coolest part is I figured Mike would just stand there. He likes them but I figured a lot of guys don't rock out in concerts, especially emo/indie bands, and he totally did! That made my night b/c I knew he was having a great time and I didn't have to worry about if he wasn't. The best parts were when they messed up! Sounds strange, huh? But I look at it like this...they weren't perfectly rehearsed. They were raw...in your soul...unplugged.
(Pic-Black hair is the lead singer/guitar, Jarrod. Brown hair is guitar/keyboard, Aaron. Although he doesn't look overly hot in the pics in person he is sooooo hot.)
