So, what is up?
I'm experiencing a busy week, and I love the rush compared to the regular, wait for a story, do the story, go home. I'm actually waiting on phone calls from several people presently, so I decided to post.
This is going by so fast. Soon it will be over. Soon as in.... oh, 21 days. I'm just working to get some great clips right now. I don't have anything spectacular but a few I can say I'm proud of, and 3 more weeks of chances to go.
This weekend I'm going to be here alone, and I'm going to take the opportunity to go see a play called Oedipus at Colona. Funny, I think there's a Colona around here as well, although the one in the play is obviously not in Illinois. I really liked classical mythology at SIUE, and in high school. It's one of my wierd interests that not a lot of people share. Oedipus is one of my favorite myths, because of the whole story having to do with a designed fate, and the connection with Freud's human complex theories, such as the Oedipus and Jocasta complexes.
I saw a CSI episode one night about the Jocasta complex that blew my mind. For those of you that don't know, Jocasta was Oedipus's mom, and also his wife. In the episode, a homosexual patient at a mental hospital was killed. As the story unraveled and intimate details of the victim and the murderer spilled out, we find out that the a fellow patient at the hospital is severely messed up because of the way he was raised. When his father died, his mother used him as a replacement husband, and had sex with him and all that. It drove him crazy, and several suicide attempts put him in the hospital. His mother kept sending him love letters, but the nurses stopped them, because everytime he would get one, he would go into a psychotic fit. Once she was cut off, his mother changed her name and got a job at the hospital to be closer to him. (Apparently, he wasn't the only one mentally off.) When he saw her, the suicide attempts began again, but he never told anyone about her, I guess he was afraid.
To separate himself sexually from his mother, he had sex with the homosexual character who was later murdered. By his mom, because she was jealous.
Even though he hated his mom and was repulsed by her, she was still his mother, so he tried to cover up her deed and confessed to the police. But they found her guilty because those TV CSIs sure are slick ;)
Moral of the story, that was a creepy episode. But great.

My old roommate Kate (SIUE, Cougar Village) was a theater major/dance minor. I've always been interested in the stuff, so I went to go see her a lot. I remember this one play, it was hilarious! It was called, and excuse the spelling Bobrauschenbergamerica, all one word just like that. It was all over the place and extremely entertaining. The night I saw it I could have described it better- here's from the other blog:
"She put on a 50's bikini, with her platinum blond wig, danced around pouring fake vodka all over a big black tarp.... she put on the finishing touch- the olive, and then proceeded to use the giant martini as a slip 'n' slide."
The bikini was flippin tan and the scene was HILARIOUS. I kinda miss Kate I wonder if she graduated and ended up in South Carolina. Or better yet- is she still with Alex? hmm...

Good Monday err.. Tuesday morning...
I am so behind a day because of the holiday. Damn Thomas you sure had a busy weekend. So you found the church for the wedding eh? Had you guys ever figured out a date yet? We are getting so old. When I was at my friend April's party I found out she was turning 23 not 22. I know she just graduated but I was completely unaware or it slipped my mind that she took a year off for basic training or something before she started school. She can get deployed now that she is out of school. Anyway I don't know why it surprised me, a lot of my school friends are older. Just makes you think.

I was talking the other day about how I've never flown on a plane, so since you're staying in Texas maybe I will have to save up some money and keep track of ticket prices. Maybe I'm getting a second chance. That is, if you will have me ;) For a round trip right now the prices are from $333. I've seen them like as low as $319 but not much better.

Happy 4th of July!
How went my weekend?
Went to April Mae June July's for her graduation party. Not a whole lot of people came, but I met some of her friends from how and it was pretty interesting. The backyard was set up real nice with bar decs (her dad used to own his own bar) and tiki torches around the pool, a keg in the garage next to a tent/bar.
It was a good time. We ate tons of food- italian beef sandwiches, cake and tons of veggies (April's a vegetarian if you didn't know). As it grew closer to 1 a.m., April's friends were growing antsy because they wanted to go to this bar, City Tavern, which as it turns out is mucho like Stix. For you guys, since you haven't been there- this is Stix- A little annoying... you know you don't want to go but you end up there anyway to see who came, because it's "the place to see people and be seen." Either that or you got drunk and figured you could put up with the crowds to get your groove on a little.
Anyway- to City we went, then back to April's to crash.
Slept in, or moreso than I have this summer. When we awoke, we got in the pool and laid out and swam all day with April's step mom, dad and step sister. I was working on a tan. Later we went to the mall to hit up Victoria's Secret. Suddenly her friend Mary called and asked if we wanted to take the train (the Metra, from University Park) into Chicago and watch the fireworks there.We went.
Taste of Chicago was happening down in Grant Park so we got some garlic cheese bread because they had run out of everything else and we already bought food tickets. We found ourselves a nice little standing area on a path next to some bushes. April ate her cheesebread, even though she had gotten flustered and dropped it on the ground. We did not brave those crazy crowds for nothing, I guess I don't blame her.
We watched an incredible fireworks show over Lake Michigan. When we headed back, we decided to walk around town before we hit up the train station. We walked down toward Michigan Avenue. I couldn't believe what I saw before my eyes. April was stunned too, and I wish I had brought my camera. Wall to wall people flooded Michigan Avenue and connecting streets. The people were taking over the city. It looked like something I had only seen in movies before. We walked. ON MICHIGAN AVENUE, around, downtown, across the river and past the Wrigley Building. Amazing. All the people, it was a little overwhelming, but at the same time, incredible. We stopped at Millenium Park, to make a wish in the new fountain. I found myself staring at the people. Trying to figure out who was a tourist, and who was a townie. All the bars were packed. I wonder how many people I knew were down there.
Around 11:15 we decided to go to the Randolph Street station and we caught a train back to University Park and drove back to Bradley. As soon as we got around 1:45 I showered and went to sleep. The melting ice from the vendors at "Taste" had run into the street... with all the people herding themselves through the maze of humanity, a sludgy substance had clung to April's jeans (which I had borrowed) and turned my green sandals a brownish color.
This morning I woke up and drove back to the QC. It rained a lot of the way, but strangely I wasn't scared of the rain on the road, as I have been usually since the accident with Diane and I on the way to Texas. The area hasn't had rain all month, and the grass is a hard, yellow hay-like mass. We needed it. Could have used it a day later. I saw on the news that East Moline had their 4th of July parade regardless, and many people had watched it from their car. All we need is another bout like that tonight, while I sleep. That's so peaceful, to fall asleep to the rain falling to the ground, and to wake up and go to work smelling fresh rain and enjoying the cool air.
I'm sorry I missed Emily's party. Em- your message, "I'd like to thank everyone from this weekend. It was the BEST weekend of my LIFE!! I hope I NEVER forget ANY of it!!! :-D (but sad cuz marc is gone :-()" makes me wish especially that I had been there. And I wish I coulda met Marc. But I guess it doesn't sound like he's going anywhere anytime soon. You should post some details, I'd love to hear about it!
Currently getting things cleaned up around the dorm, listening to some relaxing music. Garden State Soundtrack. I recently watched it again. The first time I had a hard time taking it all in. And it had to live up to the standards that Woike had implanted in my head. It's not as great as he says it is, but thought provoking, and overall good movie.

Yay for me! I passed the massage test I was soooo worried about. They put the names up of the people that passed. A couple of people weren't on there but I was!
I got my hair dyed yesterday. It was $195 and thats not even with a cut. Crazy huh? Oh well. A pic is on my photobucket so go to that! Its pretty shocking!
I got the chance to hang out with Rachelowe last night. I didn't think I was going to be able to b/c Mike and I were suppose to leave for the lake but instead we are leaving today.
Angie and I picked up some stray dogs about two days ago. We called vets around the area to see if anyone called and reported them missing and no one had. We found their owners though when Angie and Chris were putting up flyers and they found a flyer about the missing dogs. The people were putting up flyers the same exact time they were!
Well I'm off to the lake for the weekend! Everyone have a fun/safe 4th!

Much better today.
I slept 16 hours last night and plan on doing more of the same tonight so I will be in tip top shape for April's party tomorrow. WOW! I'm excited. I donno how old that's getting yet, I say it a lot.
I wrote two stories already today, getting ready to write a third one. These are the days I love! I live for. Not for the ones where I sit on my ass all bored until I find something worthwhile to do. Look it's already almost 2 and then it'll be the weekend! YAYYY.

Achoo!
I have a cold, and it's pissing me off.
I can't breathe out of my nose, except every so often when I go outside, in this lovely warm-but-not-hot weather. I bought a tin of Altoids to get my sinuses a runnin' and I have about 80 keelexes next to me which I stole from another desk, while I wait for a source or two to call me back.
At 2 I have an interview, outside, so thank god I'll be able to think and breathe.
Right now I'm enjoying a lunch of saltine crackers and mint-water (I put 2 altoids in there, hoping it would.. well you get the point.
I'm not working out tonight. I only have one passageway through which I can breathe so I doubt raising my heart rate would help me.
Nope, instead I plan to sleep. Sleep for HOURS. from like 6 to 8 tomorrow. That should give my body ample germ/virus fighting time, so I don't feel shitty when I drive to April's and back.
That's great about Mike's balls. I think Thomas is a little TOO interested though hehe. And CONGRATS you model, you. I wish I'd been there to see it!

Hey everyone! Not too much has been going on although more than usual. I did a fashion show today for Aero with 5 other people. My boss came back and told me everyone said I should be a model. They said I have the walk down perfect and I'm sassy! Haha. I was like I wish I could be a model, but it still boosted up the self esteem. It was really fun though. Its a lot of work trying to change into outfits that fast. Tthere was a little room we changed in and I was the first one to walk down, came back, and started undressing in front of the guys. I didn't care. Plus, you don't have time to look at anyone anyway. But I had a ton of fun and I want to do it again. Its so awesome. They are suppose to be posting the pics on a website so I'll post it when I find out.
Tonight we had two shoplifters. They stole from 4 stores (ours included) then went to Rave where they were finally caught. I don't see how people can steal. They were handcuffed and laughing and crap! If that were me I'd be crying for sure. Then as we were walking out there was this lady standing at her car on her cell crying so we assumed it was one of their moms. So Rachel (from Aero, not Lowe) and I proceed to talk a little smack out loud just so she knows that her daughter is ignorant.

Man dude, I'm so jealous! I wanna go to Six Flags! You know, I told myself when I get back to school this year that I'm not coming home a lot, but maybe I'll be home more than I planned. I HAVE to go to Fright Fest- so if anyone who will be in the Alton area is interested, please do let me know. Cuz I'm pretty limited to Thomas, Rachelowe and Emily, which is awesome unless u guys aren't into it. If Cory wants to come home he's more than welcome too but I didn't know.
So I really cannot motivate myself to do anything. Right now I really need to be in the back room asking for a feature story idea. But I don't want to get up yet.
I've been talking to my friend from school online, and he is flippin' hilarious. I had a game of IM tag going on with him that went a little like this:

Please keep in mind, he's never met my parents. He is strange, but loveable. It makes me sad he won't be there next year cuz he's all graduated and stuff. Sometimes I get bored and you know how I think too much- I think about how I could have known him and some of these other ppl for 3 years, and I only got the one. With April, I only knew her a semester! And she was one of my very best friends, certainly at school. I should have left home when you all did. But it's too late for regrets now, so I won't dwell on it. But I can't help but think it.

Parents Weekend
So what's new with everyone?
My parents came to town this weekend and this is how our weekend went.
Friday
*Ate at Denny's, gave my parents the grand ole' tour o' Rock Island, Moline, Davenport, Bettendorf.
*Hit up Isle of Capri Casino in Bettendorf. Now we've been to every one of the three in the Quad Cities.
*Came back to my room. My parents stayed in the dorm. We watched Arrested Development DVDs I borrowed from Aaron and did laundry until we fell asleep. Sometimes I think my parents can't sit still longer than 5 minutes. On their vacation they did laundry?!?
Saturday
*Had a donut at the South Park Bakery in dowtown RI.
*Went to Amana, IA to check out the historic Amana Colonies. Really there's nothing there to see, because it's all commercialized and stuff, but I do like how the buildings are set up since they're the same ones the Lutheran immigrants who lived in Amana dwelled in. The museum cost buttloads of money so we didn't go in. Best part? The many local wineries and their taste testing, and this Ox Yoke Inn family style dining. They bring you home cooked style food, like a plate of corn per table, mashed potatos, gravy, bread... you know just as if you were at home passing the stuff around. It was decently priced for all you can eat side dishes.
*Came back to check into the Four Points Sheraton in downtown RI.
*Mom made us go to church.
*Back to hotel, went swimming downstairs, probably one of my only swimming opportunities this summer, which is sad for me. Mom and Dad didn't get in though, they just sat on the side.
*Mom and me got into the whirlpool when my dad went upstairs to relax and watch TV. The whirlpools were in the locker rooms so my dad would have had to go to the other one. Except with a heart condition you're not supposed to get in one.
*Went to eat at Bennigan's which is like Shenanigan's, connected to the hotel.
*Out of boredom, went to Jumer's Rock Island Casino, my least favorite of the three. Didn't spend much money or time there tho.
*Back to the hotel, watch Fool's Rush In, relax, sleep
Sunday
*Sleep a little later than the day before.
*Stay in the hotel until 10, we wanted to use it as long as we were paying for it.
*Headed to Augie and fixed my bed from when we rearranged stuff on Friday.
*Went shopping at Kohl's.
*Ate dinner at Harris' Pizza- not bad but I don't recommend the sausage at all.
*Relaxed in the dorm until 5 or so when my parents left.
You know I don't know if anyone else gets this, but ever since I was little, I'd get extreme anxiety when being around somebody for a long time and then not being with them. I got the same thing when I was younger and I'd have someone stay the night. I'd have the same thing when I spent tons of time with Andy on graduation night with him staying the night and onto the next day with grad parties... and I have that when I'm with my parents all weekend and suddenly I'm alone.
That's one of my favorite things about living in the dorms at school. You're really never alone. Here, the people I met and didn't hardly even know are leaving Friday because summer school session 1 is over. I suppose new people might come, but my internship is half over so I won't know them any better.
I'm currently at work, wishing I had something to do. I'm not really in the mood to write a story today that I'm not interested in. I wish I had some good ideas...
